I saw a story about him on espn. Sounds like a great story. A report just came out that 60% of nba players are broke after 5 years out of the league. Even players like scotty pippen are broke. Boxers are even worse. Evander Holyfield had to foreclose on a 54 thousand square foot house. Thats about as large as an airport terminal. Mike tyson paid $9000 a month to have someone take care of his white tiger. Hopefully this kid will have a better ending if he makes it.

Like a lot of folks, I get tired of watching star college athletes all style their latest booster-supplied gear like luxury threads and 52" Plasmas. Here's a guy in a dorm room like most everyone here probably had, with a 50 dollar casio and some shirt that looks like it came off the sale rack at The Gap. I don't know the kid, so it's possible he and his girlfriend left the place and got into a tricked out sled like an H3 or something, but somehow I see him in an eight year old Hyundai instead.

He seems like a nice kid with a little keyboard experience and a decent voice giving thanks for the opportunities he's been given, and letting loved ones know he doesn't want to let them down. In these days of thugs and ingrates sullying the reputations of all the good guys in pro sports, IMO, this is a guy who has his head screwed on right.

So humble, and so fresh. . .

I think he's got some American Idol potential. If the NBA Thing doesn't work out, he can always be a singer.
