This is going to be the first summer we've actually had time to spend a good amount of time up at our place in St Helena. We'll be there a total of 3 weeks.

Also on deck are a week in Tahoe and 2 weeks in Barcelona, 1 in Paris.

We'll be back in Holland beginning of July to visit family and friends and will do some traveling around Germany (Mosel, Pfalz) and France (Alsace, maybe Champagne) afterwards. We'll also spend a week in Porto and the Douro.

Other than that, most weekends here are like mini holidays. We travel around a lot, enjoy the Omani scenery and fill our time with cycling, snorkling and hopefully hiking when it cools down a bit.

Smile

Just returned from a vacation in Gulf Shores, AL. The beach was unbelievable. I relaxed in my beach house rental, sipped cabernet in the evenings on the porch and watched the shorebirds along the Gulf.

I was thinking of heading to Cozumel or another beach destination this fall, but I'll probably just end up back in Gulf Shores.

My 4th of July trip was cancelled due to work.

Now my trip to Cashiers looks like it is going to be cancelled due to work.

I am very displeased.

Sorry to hear that, Rothko, but think of all the wine that extra work is going to buy.

Just one more sip.

Other than a business trip to Guatemala, most of the travel is family related. Traveled to Austin/San Antonio/Canyon Lake to see my niece graduate and will go to Cabo for a week of golf with my brother and sister-in-law.

REALLY looking forward to next year.

Planning a trip to France. Just made reservations at Restaurant Le Meurice. I am looking forward to the gluttonous experience. Has anyone eaten at this restaurant since its elevation to three stars?

My wife and I decided to spend a weekend at the Gideon Ridge Inn in Blowing Rock on the 1st and 2nd of August. We are debating not going to France next year - it's going to be too expensive Frown We are still deciding, but we may go to Oregon instead and save Europe for our 5th anniversary.

Congrats.
You will find that the South Pacific, if you have not been there, is perhaps the most beautiful place in the world.

Just returned from a nice weekend at the Gideon Ridge Inn in Blowing Rock. It is so pleasant and relaxing there. It also offered a nice break from the high temps. I know we have a few forumites that go to Blowing Rock on occassion. If you have the opportunity, definitely check it out.
