Wow. Rough penalty for the Pats. I don't think Bill will be pulling THAT again.

For those of you who think the Pats are the only team that do this... think again. Why would the Jets employee an ex-FBI agent to scout the other team's coaches, personnel, etc.? If you ask me, this whole thing is a bit much. What ever happened to the days when players would run the play in?
Go HOKIES!!!

Today there are no-huddle offenses and running the play in just takes too long. Besides, the game is sped up a bit and it is more interesting for fans. Now there is talk that next year someone on the defense will be equipped with radio equipment in their helmet so that plays can be called in instead of signaled. Looks like teams will now try to intercept or jam the radio signals. Some people seem to think that the Patriots got off easy. I think the penalty is about right. $500,000 is a lot of dough for Belichik to cough up although I’m sure that he can afford it. Also, loosing a first round pick is pretty severe. Matt, how do you think the Hokies will do against the Ohio University Bobcats this weekend?

BS , F1 fines a team 100mm$$ and basically insured Ferrari's going to win. And they didn't even prove that they used the Ferrari manuals. If they did prove that they did, it might be complete suspensions this year and next!
Wooo a first round draft pick and 250k against the team and 500k against the coach..
BS ... Ban the pats from going to the playoffs... the loss of revenue from that will guarantee that no one in this league will ever be caught again.

First of all, the fact that this happened to the Jets is proof that even God hates them. I'll bet the fans were miffed. Both of them. They'll get over it though. Jets fans are really Giant fans who couldn't get tickets anyway. At least those defecting fans won't lose their way to the stadium...it's the same one! The Pats were just trying to do what the Jets fans always say anyway: Just End The Season! Ahhhh ok, ok, I'm kidding (seed of truth to all humor, cough) and have to declare publicly that I do love the rivalry between the Phins and Jets. Those games are classics! I think penalty fits the crime, except that I'd (hate to say this) give the W to the Jets. Bellacheater took the credit for his past wins so he should take the credit for the loss the League should hand him/team.

Bellacheater, love that one. The Patriots have, now more than ever, become the NFL's version of the Yankees. The Evil Empire of the Gridiron.

Not to turn this into the NCAA thread... but I think we'll win comfortably. The team is very upset with the way they played last week. Foster promised one of the toughest week of practice he's ever had, plus Tyrod is starting. I think the shake up with get the O fired up, and I think this is a great time to start him. Ohio this week, William & Mary (groan) next week. Two easy games under his belt in time for the ACC schedule.
Go HOKIES!!!

pa-lease, come on now. Banned from the playoffs? Like mwagner said, there are plenty of teams that "cheat" in this manner (see article for those who are uninformed). I'm not saying that its ok, but banned from the playoffs? You guys can be a funny bunch sometimes. this has been going on for a long time now

I think the fine to Belichick and the loss of picks is appropriate. I think that the league should have fined the owner/team more substantially. $250K to an NFL owner is chump change. Get into the owners' pockets a little bit and you'll see some serious enforcement.

football is a team game ... one person does not make the team ... unless it's the guy with the video camera recording the other team's signals.

That's pretty funny. At least we can agree that the Patriots are weak.

C I N C I N N A T I B E N G A L S. Nope, no D there. 51 points and over 550 yards to the Browns? I hate to see what happens when they play somebody with a good offense.

the whole league sucks except for New England & Indy so much for the Hawk's new D with the new personel and Mora... Leinart goes for 300 yds, Edge has his best game as a Cardinal, and Hasselbeck & Shaun fumble a handoff on a potential scoring drive... sounds alot like last year

IndyBob is probably enjoying his PERFECT football team. Though I think Vince Young and the Titans played them pretty well. Time to go watch Washington beat Philadelphia.

I'm here allright. Licking the wounds from the Patriots' beat down of my Chargers last night. Sniff! The Patriots, AKA, Evil Empire are a Beast allright. San Diego seemed to have a tough time with the New England 3-4 defense, which curiously, they run a lot of themselves. If Norv Turner and company can beat a resurgent Packers next week, it looks pretty good for the next few, to get some confidence back before the week 7 bye. As far as Indy, no matter what the record is, The Titans almost always play the Colts tough, so am not reading much into the slim margin of victory. Vince Young is amazing. He's smart (forget his wunderlich scores), mobile, big, has a rocket launcher for an arm. He's for real. And, nice to see the Raiders 0-2. 14 more steps to imperfection fellas! Cheers!
