Great game. It had me on the edge of my seat until the very end. Congrats to all Giants fans out there.

Actually, I would prefer that the Pats lose their first game of the play-offs, lose one and out for the season. That would be SWEEEEEET.

Did not work out quite this way but the Giants were the team that did them in. What a game. And it was indeed SWEEEEEEEEEEEEET.

Oh, I forgot about the 49ers going 18-1... they ALSO won the Super Bowl!

Was there a book coming out, 19-0? Red Face

Wow!

Next to the New York Jet win in Super bowl 3, this was the biggest victory in New York football history IMO and 100% the greatest New York Giant win ever.

Congrats to Giants fans. They played a very good game and obviously wanted it more.

I loss 2 bets on that game. The first was a parlay I took on the Pats going 19-0 at the beginning of the season, that was huge, still shaking my head on all the wine I could have bought. Second, I lost my bet with my neighbor, so a very nice bottle of wine, which I am sure he will share with me,but wearing a frickin Manning Giants jersey and hat for a week is making me want to throw up. Did anyone have reception problems during the game?
Our DirectTV HD had several "freezes" and little digital imaging problems at least during the first half and it was really bad during Tom Petty.
Someone at work mentioned the same problems.

Yes, a lot of little African kids will be thrilled when the heli drops a ton of "Patriots 19-0 Perfect Season" shirts down on their village.

Maybe if they learn to read English, someone can deliver all those 19-0 Perfect Season books too.

C'mon now. You've been heckling everyone else on this thread for months now. Don't be a sore loser. I know the Patriots were better than the Bolts and Colts this year. They just weren't better than the Giants.

It has to be said that the Pats made the biggest choke job in NFL history. As far as that other crap, put a lid on it, it's old news.

No argument there, they gagged big time. This one is right up there with the Jets beating the Colts, probably ahead of it. The Giants were the better team last night. They made the Pro Bowl bound O-Line of the Pats look like Pop Warner kids. I had the Giants offensive production pegged, I just never though they'd get to tee off on Brady like a tackling dummy. I'm just thankful he got up at the end of it all. The Pat's will be in the hunt again next year, it's not the end of my world but a lot of people up here are taking it aweful hard. Especially the guy who had 19-0 tatood on his arm with the Pats helmet. Oops.

And I can take it from everyone else, they have a more good natured ribbing effect rather than a rub your face in it tone to their posts. I've been high on my team for sure. I boast about them no doubt and I had great confidence in them, predicted big things, but didn't rub it in to anyones face after their team lost. If that's your thing, enjoy. I certainly set myself up it.

The other stuff might be well know, but it isn't old news to me. I and 75% of my friends fall into the category you love to hate. I may let it go but I won't forget it

Shoot, for some reason, everytime I read Icewino's Super Bowl comments, thay end up getting copied into a reply.

Sorry about that.

Very small consolation, but I got the Giants score right Big Grin

Yep, the fact that this is really TRUE makes it especially comical. What I wouldn't give to have one of those shirts.

It would be like having the "Inverted Lindy" except I'd iron on a giant red "X" over it. Sorry, I must sound like the little boy who witnessed the '72 team. Razz

The Giants d-line played the game of their lives. The hoody got out-coached. Bet he wishes he could take back going for it on 4th and 13, inside a dome, with a kicker that just might have made it...

Congratulations Giant fan. Not as big an upset as Superbowl 3 but close.

From a "point" perspective, no it wasn't. Not from a business standpoint either. The Jets proved that the lowly AFL teams could compete with the powerful NFL teams, bringing more attention to the league.

From a purely "historical" point of view, the Pats had a chance at history that has stood in the way for all teams for 36 years. After all, the ghost of the '72 team always seem to surface around week 6 or 7, and linger until someone loses. To watch the Pats achieve greatness for 4 1/2 months, only to watch it all slip away in 2 minutes has to arguably be the worst upset ever. It may have been better than the Bills losing 4 S.B.s in a row. No, wait. That was just upsetting. Big Grin

Speaking of ignorant you're wrong again as usual Board-O. Even though that was just a play on the chant the fans here do, I truely believe the yankee's are mediocre this year. I'm guessing you know very little about baseball and should stick to wine or stalking people across the boards here, two things you are clearly expert at. The Red Sox actually won 5 World series, including the first one, before the Yankees won their first genius. That's where the whole Babe Ruth "curse" comes into play. If you knew anything about the history of Yankee's baseball you'd know that. So they have a total of 7, 4th all time. So while the Yankees have a better history due largely in my opinion to the lack of a salary cap in MLB, their current team still stinks which was my point. Who's going to start for them. Hughes, Kennedy, Mussina, Wang and Petit. Please, 2 of them are washed up and 2 of them are unproven and one of them also has to cut out the HGH now. They have a great line-up but pitching wins in the post season. They'll win the wild card and go out again in the first round.

Back to football, go Pats!

Wine O,
How does that foot taste thats stuck in your mouth!!! You are another loud mouth New Englander who has gotten your just deserts. Revenge is sweet, especially when a New Englander is on the receiving end. All your arrogant rants equal a pile of dung at this moment. The Patriots are the best team of all time???, Hahahahahahahah. I'll let the results speak for themselves while you wallow in your misery with losers lament!!!

Just what I like to hear, more arrogant comments from Patriot fans. The New England fans have become what they have hated for decades. Arrogant Yankee fans and Patriot fans are all the same now.

Your right wine wiz, it is arrogant for me to believe that the Pats will win this one by 21 points or so. There's no way on earth they could ever win like 38-17 or something like that. Won't happen. Just because the Pats are one of the best teams ever, and the Giants would be the worst team to ever win a Super Bowl (see for yourself). Maybe I've just read too much arrogant stuff like this article. Allow me to revise my actual thoughts so as not to get an earfull around here, after all, I am not entitled to my heartfelt opinion and certainly can't voice it around here.

In an effort not to offend I now think the mighty Giants with that proven QB of theirs will make this a close game, a nail bighter for sure. These damn Patriots I'm rooting for always let a big game get away from them, especially with two weeks to scheme and plan. Their coaches just aren't that good at it I guess. They don't have the offensive weapons to blow out anyone, I mean, the QB's and recievers are at best on par with New York. The Giants came to win also and they're every bit as talented and as well coached as New England, plus thay have all those players who have been to the big game before. Win or lose I'm just hoping for a good game. With a season point differential total of +22 the Giants have certainly proved they can compete toe to toe with the Patriots who only had a +19.7 differential. Only a moron could think they might win big. Oh wait, that 19.7 was per game, they were an all time best +315 for the season and they have Brady and Bellichick. Never mind, back to my original opinion. 38-17, that's my slightly educated guess based on stats, personell and experience.

And for the record, arrogance is based on exaggeration. I don't feel I'm grossly exaggerating to predict a 38-17 Patriots win. So we're really nothing like the Yankee's fans. Our team actually is one of the best ever at this moment, the Yankee's Suck! Razz

Hey, Wiz. Take it easy on the guy. He's celebrating the Red Sox' 2nd World Series victory since 1918. I think we should let him enjoy his team's rare success. Roll Eyes

I freely admit they were outplayed by the D-line of the Giants. That was one dominating game they threw at them. But are you really saying that losing by playing and coaching so poorly wasn't a choke job for the ages? Three pro bowlers looked like a pile of crap and had their worst game of the year at the biggest moment. As much as it pains me to say it, I have to disagree. That's gagging in my book.

I am beyond shocked at the Giants upsetting the Patriots. I never would have guessed it. I am sure glad I did not make any bets!!

As for the game, the NY Giants defense was the big thing that made it happen. But you can not overlook Eli Manning. Something clicked with him in the last two games of the regular season where it looks like the game has slowed down for him and he has taken the big step he needs to be a great QB.

Eli and the Giants defense won that game. That play where Eli broke lose and hit Tyree has to be one of the greatest ever Super Bowl plays. I am not a Giants fan, but wow, this was one of the best Super Bowls ever.

I am not sure how anyone can say the Patriots choked, the did not choke. The Giants were just peaking at the right time and became unbeatable when it counted most.

Was the Patriots defense too old, some might think so. But, I am not sure if that had much to do with it. Their defense gave up 35 points to the Giants in game 16, but held them to 17 points in the Super Bowl. I do not think the Patriots choked or their older defense had anything to do with it. They just ran into a red hot, fired up Giants team at the wrong time.

Maybe because the Patriots ownership bought patents on "19-0", and "19-0 Season of Perfection", and it got out to the NY Post and then the Giants, that might have been the bulletin board material that got the Giants even more fired up then before.

I have to say it tastes quite lousy. I'm not wallowing at all, real life goes on. At the time I said that they were the best of all time they were, check out the stats. I've said before in my other posts it's only sports, I hope you realize that but you appear to think it's more than entertainment and emotions.

Despite what you assume about me I'm not loud mouthed at all. I enjoy a spirited debate but my guesses and predictions about victory were purely out of fun and a belief that the Giants didn't match up well, your replys here appear to be very angry at me personally just for liking a sports team and stating an opinion that the Giants were just not matched up well with them and not nearly as good, again I was wrong. You've never been wrong in your life? I'm even happy for the Mannings, even though I dislike the Colts from a rival team stand point I don't think either of them are bad guys by any stretch of the imagination. I think it's great that the brothers won back to back rings and MVP's. It's great when me an my brother both do well in golf tournaments and can talk about it and enjoy it together. Sure it took the wind out my sails and was a lousy end to an otherwise enjoyable night with friends but life goes on.

Wine Wiz my guess is you don't rib your friends or have a sense of humor at all. You're probably a very miserable person to be around and don't seem like much fun as a human being. Even Indy Bob who I can't stand sometimes get's what sports are all about. Sorry that it bugs you so much to see someone excited about the success of their team. I've never once jumped on anyone who's team has lost and rubbed their face in defeat, I've just talked up my team with hope and optimism and enthusiasm when they do well. That's waht sports is to me. It's not war, it's not life and death, it's not taxes. It doesn't effect real life at all unless we were the players in the games. It's ok for you to get lost in the fun and entertainment and escape from the important things in life. That what sports are to me and I had a great six month ride with some great positive emotions on some otherwise cold nasty New England weekends and I thank the Patriots for that. Apparently to you they are not purely for recreational enjoyment. Keep piling on if you like, it wont bother me one bit.
