"Scoreboard"
all that word says is that they are undefeated thus far in the season... says nothing about the potential for them to lose a game, which they can... were they down 10 to the Colts with 7 minutes left? yes... did they come back and win on 2 fumbles by Peyton? yes... im not disputing the result. merely stating the fact they were looking at a loss and it was a very real possibility at that point in the game, i.e., beatable, not beaten quote: Originally posted by Markiemark: Couldn't agree more. no moral victory at all in my statement, but nice try quote: Originally posted by Icewino: Just for the sake of a friendly argument Kumazam, how exactly did Philly or Indy prove that to you? Indy was the second best team at the time and lost. Philly played an amazing game, but still lost. How does that PROVE the Pats are beatable? I have to agree with GA on this one, to me that just proves beyond a doubt a few teams on a good night can stay in the game and not meet the same fate the Redskins, Bills, Dolphins and others met.
see my comments to GA... by leading the supposedly unbeatable Patriots late in the game, the Colts proved to me the Patriots can be beaten... the Colts should have won that game - but Peyton and the Colts made crucial mistakes and the best team in the league did what the best team usually does, took advantage and won the game... the Eagles just affirmed this to me... what seems to be forgotten here is that the season isn't over, there are still games to be played, and the Patriots aren't unbeatable until theyve beaten everybody and won the SB... until that happens, all they are is unbeaten, not unbeatable... i cant believe its so hard for you all to make that distinction, but at the same time, i can

thats my point too DnVD... at this point, the Patriots are still beatable... if they finish the season undefeated and go all the way and win the SB, then you have to say they are unbeatable, regardless of what happened during the regular season because theres no way to prove otherwise... the season isn't over yet, and until the above happens, they have shown it is possible for them to be beat by being down late in games... but theyve also shown why they're the best team in the league by coming back to win those games as well

Fine, good point, I'll agree, to a point, but I'm not equating unbeatable with invincible. The '72 'fins ran the table (and caught some breaks along the way), proving that for a season, they were unbeaten, but I don't believe any team is, has been, or ever will be unbeatable. Unbeatable would imply that an all-star team could be assembled from all other teams in the league, they could train sufficiently, have a great game plan, play mistake-free football, and still would lose to the '72 Dolphins, or '07 Pats. All hypothetical of course, but so is the term "unbeatable."

Hypotheticals, could have's and should have's don't prove to me they can be beaten. It proves to me, until they actually lose, that they have what it takes to win in all situations and other teams do not have what it takes to beat them. Is Tiger Woods beatable on the final day of a Major if he starts with the Lead? Until it happens he is unbeatable to me. Sure if he shoots 10 over he's beatable but he isn't going to do that so you're not dealing with reality. I'm not trying to bash anyone's team but records mean nothing once you get to the playoffs. The Giants could be 11-5 at that point but they're one and done in the playoffs with their injuries and Eli at QB. I couldn't agree more that it's a team sport but without a good quarterback you don't have a good team. Ask the Eagles who have a solid all around team if a bad quarterback can lose a game for you. Feely single handedly lost that game for Philly. The Bears had a great record last year but had zero chance against Indy in the game that mattered because Grossman stinks. If whoever wins the NFC doesn't have a great quarteback they have no chance to put up enough points to beat the Pats or if hell freezes over maybe the Colts. Flashes of brilliance from Eli wont get it done no matter how nice a guy he is.

thats why i think we just agree to disagree... almost by definition one is using hypotheticals when a team is called unbeatable... basically you're saying because they haven't lost in the past, hypothetically, they can't or won't lose in the future... all being undefeated proves factually is that you haven't lost yet, and since the timeframe for these kind of measurements is a season as teams change and personnel change and they're referred to as such, i.e., 72' Dolphins, 07' Patriots, etc... until they finish the season undefeated you can't say they are unbeatable really without using hypotheticals yourself... like i stated above, once the season has come and gone and they win the Super Bowl without losing a game can you then call them unbeatable because there's no other way to prove they could lose, i.e., there's no way to go back and prove the 72' Dolphins are unbeatable or not, but since they went 16-0 and won the SB you can say so... now that doesnt mean i think they are, but i cant argue against someone else who thinks they are, just as they can't really argue against my opinion of any team being beatable... its all opinion

It's pretty simple really. Nobody has yet proved they can beat the Patriots. Until someone does, kuma's argument is moot.

you're right, it is pretty simple... to imply a team is unbeatable or invincible is to say its out of the realm of possibility that another team can win if they play
is it possible another team can beat the Patriots? yes...
is it likely? no...

They said it was a touchdown. It was close but I don;t think the reciever had it under his control before he went out of bounds.

I really hate the Patriots but I want them to go undefeated just so I don't have to watch those old washed up Dolphins from 72 drink champagne. LOL
