Any suggestions of wineries whose wines are typically only available by visiting them? Will be in St. Helena, Calistoga and Healdsburg in November, but would go to other Napa or Sonoma areas as well.
Would like to find smaller winery operations you don't often hear of. Interested in Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah, Viognier, or Port. Thanks in advance for any advice! |

Apparently WS just rated a couple of their cabs in the low 90s. I was surprised too. http://scmwine.wikispaces.com http://scmwine.blogspot.com http://blogs.sun.com/davetong http://twitter.com/davetong |

I have a friend in Napa who owns a Wine Tour Company... the difference between Don's and other wine tour company's is that he will take you to obscure Vineyard's. Great wines to be found. Check out his web site... cost is like $75.00, but lunch is included and he will pick you up at your hotel, if you are staying in Napa or St Helena etc.
www.platypustours.com He use to work with Gary Danko and Nick Peyton. Nick now owns and runs Cyrus Restaurant in Healdsburg. Outstanding restaurant, expensive, but great! Lunch in Napa should be at the "Market", another Nick Peyton restaurant. A nice, not too pricey restaurant, and really quite decent grub! |

Bez... when you go to Texas de Brazil... ask for Joe Thomas. He is either a GM or Assist GM. He is also a sommelier. He and I worked together when we opened a full service restaurant at Seaworld quite a few years back. He know's wines! Nice guy! I am north of Downtown.

Hi, I was just in Napa beginning of September.
Opus One which you can buy yes, but they sell a secondary label Overature which is only available at their winery. It was $50 a bottle and it is fantastic. I just opened one 2 days ago. Really smooth very very good. So that is one. There is one wine that we had, it's a Turley, it's from Calif but from Templeton. You can buy it in a liquor store in California but it is very hard to find outside of Calif so i suggest maybe trying one. It's a Zinfandel old vine but we enjoyed it and thought it to be quite nice. |
