Carla's eyes look like they're gonna pop out of the socket during those cutaway interviews.

Ha.

She reminds me of Jabba Binx in the Starwars. Drove me nuts. Hated that character. Not much more fond of Carla.

Prediction: Stefan and Jamie (top 2). Would be really fun too.

Oh well. So much for that. Stefan seems to be back. You get the feeling he's just smarter than all of them too.

That challenge seemed hard. Even the quickfire was pretty hard core.

It's all on Stefan and his to lose IMO. No one is better than him, but that doesn't always win it. Richard was the most talented last year and he finished a distant 3rd crashing at the final. Good season though - notice the less cursing and general nasty comments too. Glad they cleaned it up.

The prize for Stefan was pretty sweet. Little road trip with Eric Ripert.

Most Top Chef episodes don’t make me hungry, but this one did. I have to hit up Le Bernardin next time I’m in NY.

Yeah. That prize was crazy good. Study under him, week at the ritz, flying to food and wine festival.

Guess Top Chef got a lot of product placement money that week! Wink

It is literally like that scene in Wayne's World sometimes where wayne and garth are lifting cans of coke with nike outfits on saying "I will not sell out to any sponsor" lol. The little gadgets the chefs call home with (close up and all), the "Swanson" chicken broth. They almost hold this stuff up to the camera like a 1950's live commercial. Pretty funny.

I don't care though. Great show and if that's what it takes - no problem.

The prizes are only going to get better. Remember last season they gave the winners a car and a trip to Italy.

good episode this past week, this challenge really showed that these chefs HAVE to know how to cook. Probably the best challenge yet.

Yeah, the product placements and plugs on Top Chef are absolutely shameless! I still love the show in spite of that but, if you watch with plugs in mind, you'll be amazed. They'll zoom in on an appliance brand name and hold it for two seconds. Or, when a contestant calls home, they'll zoom in on the cell phone and hold the shot for a second or two. They're also pimping Glad products pretty hard. Not a big deal or a distraction, but funny at how little Bravo tries to hide them!

Cheers!

Can Stefan actually lose this thing?

This is my first season but he seems to be one level above the others.....although I could have cooked the lobster dish he made, thats pretty basic.

Well Stefan toyed with losing it last night. In a game where ruined protein is a ticket home, he got a pass for past quality, and there is no mistaking that. I was waiting apprehensively when the verdict came down, as his cooking was certainly making this more exciting. He probably cooked a worse dish than Leah last night, but she has been so ineffective and disaffected that I think she had to go. It was an interesting point for what is more important the one challenge being reviewed or the season as a whole. In the past I think that they have let chefs go for one dish regardless of the season that came before, last night they did the opposite. But in the end Stefan really does seem to be the only one with a proper combination of execution and imagination to win it. I do have to commend Carla too though, despite some hate lavished on her around here, she has demonstrated an excellent technique and a simplicity that has served her very well. But in the end I don't think she has the imagination to beat Stefan, nor the repertoire. Still, it has been a good season I think, though some disagree.

If Leah had just cooked a slightly better eggs benedict (how could you not?), I think Stefan would have gone home. I was waiting anxiously on the verdict as well.

Just finished watching it on DVR. Stefan most certainly should have been the one to leave, but he got by with the previous dishes he made. It is supposed to be judged on the present dish but clearly it wasnt the case in this episode.

Im not sad the see Leah go though, she didnt seem like she really cared to be there. Should be a nice finale. Im kind of pulling for Fabio, he cracks me up.

I'm pulling for Fabio, too. He is pretty funny to watch. Pretty cool that he pulled the dishes off with a broken finger, too!

Cheers!

lol I thought the same thing! She seemed all fought out and probably just wanted to get home to the boyfriend already. She was good though. Very casual and self deprecating, needs confidence but she can definetly cook.

Fabio remeemed himslef nicely. He got a nice dinner to do and apparantly did real well. I still think he's weak underneath the appearance. He just sucks at the Quickfire. Forget winning, has the guy ever been one of the few the judge liked?

Stefan is the best pure chef IMO, and I think the judges almost respect him too much. Kinda like, "yeah the eggs benedict wasn't great but we can't send Stefan home and let Leah stay" Even though a few of them said the eggs benedict was fine. Where Stefan's Salmon was totally over cooked and a couple of them said it was not suitable to be plated and would have sent it back. I actually think Salmon is a helluva lot easier - but I ain't there. Smile

BUT - Stefan is cool and I'm rooting for him. Mainly because the others are just not THAT Top Chef good to me.

of course she did, she probably had heard that she was getting the executive chef spot at Centro Vinoteca.

But I also had thought that Stefan would be heading home after that dismal salmon he cooked

I also had to chuckle when Carla said, "....I used to model..." What?!? She reminds me of a human version of a bird! Not a model! She can cook, though, and has grown on me. Af first she was annoying beyond belief with all the 'love' talk with her food.

Cheers!

Leah was just waiting for the ax.
Carla. I think she is scary....something from an odd alien flick.
Stephan and Fabio are the 2 best. They were at the start, they will be at the end. Unless the judges have a thing for a weird birdlike chef.

Just caught the last episode. I would have rather seen Hosea leave. I haven’t watched the whole season, but everything that I have seen him make is very average. Yet, to the camera he keeps proclaiming to be just as good as Stefan and is going to take him down???
