I totally understand the diplomacy angle when a spouse is involved.
I actually know Spurrier quite well, and he is a good guy in person. He is a tad quirky, but he can be hillareous. It is funny how brash young coaches gain some perspective when they age.
My Dad was a fraternity brother with Spurrier..in fact his pledge master..and apparently he as quite cocky back then too. Then again..he led UF to some of its most successful years back in the 60's too! (which really isn't sayin much though...LOL)
And get over yourself - it’s not the least bit of hate for UF. It’s hate for what he did - plain and simple. Any team that’s ranked no. 1 will get more press coverage and attention. The Oregon player was suspension far greater for far less of an offense.
yea get over yourself. The Oregon player was not provoked. He took it upon himself to cold cock a guy after a game for no reason. Spikes has had no issues during his tenure...model student athlete. Came back for his Senior year. The Georgia "Marry my redneck cousin" Bulldog players were playin dirty with him all night. One was plainly called a personal foul. Its only natural to get a little jab in there...he was just unlucky it wasn't so discrete.
All I know...is I watch the game from the quietest Midtown Atlanta Bar on Saturday. The Vortex was feeding me a very good selection of beers with very little cheering from Cousin Luvin fans.

Laughable coming from a fan of a school located in the Jort capital of the world. There is no more redneck area in the country than north central florida. An absolute barren wasteland of society.

you either havent watched the replay, havent read the stories from both sides, or both, because he was provoked... the BSU player taunted him and he punched him for it... the BSU coach was pulling him away because of that as he was socked... different level, but to say it was for no reason is false

You obviously haven't been to the Panhandle, MS, AL, AR, TN, SC, NC, KY, Western Virginia, WV, and everywhere but Atlanta in Georgia.

Hey...its not all about the south. Just bring your cousin to Colorado and have at it

So obviously desperate.
You’d be better off spending time fund raising for Meyer’s $30k fine.

Yep. I don't think there's a truly great team in the conference, but outside of WSU there are no easy outs either. What a grind to get through the conference this year...
At this point in the season. I'm not sure either the Big 10 or the Pac 12 have a truly 10 team in the nation. It's a crock that both get an aaautomatic berth to one of the top "BCS" Bowls in the the land, ie the Rose Bowl.
Bad day for my Hawkeyes. Stanzi is out untill the bowl game. We'll get killed at ohio state next week. I just hope we can beat the Gophers the following to go 10-2 and get healthy for a good bowl game.

Yes. After Oregon lost its defense and SC supposedly found theirs in a weak win over Arizona State there is a strong probability. I’m an SC fan and not sure they are even a top 20 team at this point. The talent is certainly there but little else is.

I am hoping for an at large BCS bid (Fiesta perhaps) for a match-up outside of the Big 10. I don't want to get too worried about it at this point. We still have to beat 2 quality teams (Stanford and UofA) to even be considered for a BCS bid. SC needs to play at a higher level on both sides of the ball to get the job done.
USC vs. OSU rematch would be a no-win situation for the Trojans, although I would take a Rose Bowl bid any day. Fight on!

It says a lot about USC that they could lose Sanchez, all that talent on defense and their (IMHO) best running back to a freak accident and still be considering the possibility of a "disappointing" Rose Bowl berth. At Arizona we have four tough games ahead of us and are giddy just at the remote possbility of finally getting into one...

Desperate because I disagree with his premise? Have you been to Cordele, GA?
We've entered "crunch time" in college football when the dust starts to settle and the end of season bowl match-ups come into view. For me this is the best time of year.
This year you can find fault with almost any team in the rankings. Either they don't win in a convincing fashion, or the refs blew a call, or whatever. Alabama looks pretty good to me after a win against a very talented LSU team. Florida is also a strong team as is Texas but I think Florida will go down against Alabama in the SEC Championship game. Texas has a relatively easy walk to the Big 12 Championship game although they better not take Texas A&M too lightly.
Cincinnati, Boise and TCU also are perfect (so far) but lack a "signature" win to give them credability. And speaking of signature wins, kudos to Ohio State for going into Happy Valley and soundly defeating Penn State. Also kudos to the Naval Academy for their exciting win against Notre Dame in South Bend. They almost pulled out a win against Ohio State early in the year and got one against the Irish on Saturday.
