Be careful now! The AD at Vandy is being extremely brave by just staying in the SEC. The Average SAT of the Vandy football team is higher than that of the student body of all SEC schools except maybe Florida.
The same goes for NW in the Big 10. Schools like that need to be given credit not overgeneralized brow beating.
If I were to rank my Hawkeyes I'd probably put them about 15th. We almost lost to Northern Iowa and Arkansas State. We are not a great team but we are well coached. Our number one receiver and running back were out for the season before it began. I know we play in the big ten and it's not a great conference but we won at Wisconsin, Penn State and Michigan State on the road. You know Texas, Alabama and Florida all havn't looked that great at times either. Texas could have lost to Oklahoma who are on the skid. Iowa is a second tier team that will never get the top recruits so if we go to the championship game undefeated it will be a once in a lifetime experience for me being it's my alma mater. Hey we have Indiana and at home and I'm scared being 17 point favorites after they lead Northwestern 28-3 during the first half last week. But Go Hawks!

USC is favored by 3-4 points over the Ducks this Saturday. I call Bull S**t to the spread, put a little $$$ on the Ducks!
ESPN game day trucks are in town, folks are getting black t-shirts and rain gear, word is we are doing a "black out" for the Halloween game. Hope we give SC lots of tricks and no treats.

well.... if your plan is to play the best in college and you have to schedule 10 years out - its safe to say that they can play the toughest teams in the nation without having to leave their conference. Take Tennessee - they played florida when they were number 1 and Alabama when they were number 1. Are you suggesting we should "duck" one of those two so we can play the Ohio "gets blown out in the national championship by SEC teams" State?
Yes. I'm suggesting that most AD's in the SEC are cowards.
Well the PAC-10 does have all their rivalries in conference...many SEC non-conference games are locked in. UF-FSU, USC(East)-Clemson, GA-GA Tech, KY-Louisville. TN has more leeway since Vandy is in conference...as does Alabama, Auburn, MS and MS State. Why those other than TN and Bama that can choose not to...is beyond me.
UF would have been able to...but ask FSU fans why they were too cowardly to join the SEC instead of South Carolina back in 1992? It was a pure business decision on their part..they would not have had the same success they had...nor been in as many New Years Day bowls had they not cherry picked a conference they could dominate for 12 years.
That was an impressive, and IMO a necessary, win for Butch Davis. Where they gave FSU a break the week before they took one from Va. Tech. It may be just me, but Frank Beamer is a tad overrated as a coach. He is solid, but not elite.
As for me, I will be in Winston-Salem (visiting the son) watching Wake take on Miami. However, I will be constantly checking the Florida game against the Dawgs on my mobile phone. I did record it, so I will get to check it out later. I think that Miami gets by Wake, but Georgia scares me (they always scare me) this week. This game sets up well for them as they are coming of a bye week. In addition, the Gator offense is not exactly ringing up points.

33-3 at the half. Mizzou is bringing the pain. Colorado better hope Mork from Ork is still running around the campus somewhere 'cause they need all help they can get.

Heading to Autzen in a few minutes for the Duck/leaky Trojan game. The should be lots of fun! Rain is holding off, we probably will do a little tailgating if the rains don't come. Have a half case of assorted Oregon Pinot Noir's, couple of 1/2 pans of pulled pork and light sides. A little Pinot and Pork is always good. Cooler full of yellow and green Bud for the beer drinkers. If the rains hit we will bag the tailgater and just head to the club room for bad food and overpriced drinks. But there will be dry comfortable chairs and lots of tv's.
Go Ducks!!! This is the defining game of the season.
Great game at Autzen Stadium so far. Oregon and USC putting on an offensive show, with Oregon ahead at halftime 24-17. Wish I could be there, enjoying some great Pinot Noir with Duck833 prior to the game (and he brings GREAT wines!), then getting crazy with my brother during the game. Still, I am immensely enjoying watching it on TV with a bottle of 2005 Stephanie and a bottle of 2005 Syzygy Syrah. Both superb wines.
GO DUCKS!!!!

Congrats to all Duck fans. Your team really laid it on us tonight. Trojans need to regroup. A lot of football left to be played. Fight On!

Wow, great win by the Ducks. Autzen sounded amazing. If Arizona can get by Cal that would set up a Cats/Ducks showdown with some serious implications. Based on last night's game I wouldn't be too confident heading into that one but it should make for an exciting week leading up to the game.
An absolutely amazing showing by a Ducks team that was firing on all cylinders last night. What I witnessed was just a good ol' fashioned butt whooping, an even better effort than last week against Washington, and I think that last night the Ducks could have beaten anyone in college football.
Still, as Red guy in a blue state appropriately stated, there's a lot of football still to be played so while I'm sure they're enjoying this tremendous win, there are some good teams still to play (mainly your Arizona team, AZ Cat), that they must take seriously.
For now, though, Duck fans are thoroughly enjoying the outcome of this nationally televised game.

Heading to Stanford next week for the game, probably will drive with a little extra time in Napa
Then Sun Devil's at Autzen, we will be looking forward to that.
I have tickets to the U of A game and a plane ride so I would love to see Stoops blow a major vein. Will bring a few nice bottles of Oregon's finest to Arizona for that one, have a few wino friends coming and we might as well tailgate there in style.
With 613 yards allowed, it’s pretty obvious who the cowards are.
Did Oregon ever punt? Lol

GD - I am not sure how getting one's ass kicked equates with cowardice? Of the top of my head, USC has scheduled the following non-conference opponents in the last several years (including yearly with Notre Dame): Ohio State, Nebraska, Virginia, Arkansas, BYU, Auburn, Virginia Tech and Fresno State. This, in addition to playing all teams in the Pac 10 each year. Year in and out, the Trojans play one of the tougher schedules in the country. I don't think that meets the definition of coward. Please explain.
Again, my hat is off to Oregon. I hope we have a much better showing in Tempe next week.

Pay zero attention to to drazi. Just another WS tool.
Congratulations to Oregon. They played well and showed that they deserve to be Pac 10 champs.
USC has a young team. Next year should be interesting.

I do like that USC plays solid programs for non-conference games.
My beloved Sooners also schedule solid programs for non-conference under Stoops. He has played Oregon, Alabama, UCLA, South Florida, Miami, TCU, Washington, BYU and Cincinnati, and has Ohio State, Tennessee, Notre Dame and Florida State in the coming years.
Another freaky game from my beloved Hawkeyes. We lost our second starting running back for the year again. Five interceptions by Stanzi. We have Northwestern at home next week so we could be the most overated team but a win is a win. I'll take any I can get.
