Guy Savoy, Taillevent, or Arpege? It's our 10th Anniversary, we're not high rollers, we love wine, and my wife eats seafood but NO MEAT. Which would you suggest?

If you are not high rollers, Taillevant is not for you.
Try Le Dome, near the Jardin du Luxembourg. Great seafood and substantially more reasonable.

NJFan,

Had a meeting today on our trip to Paris and will report soon on Champagne.

Check out Restaurant Laurent. I have always enjoyed this restaurant and have booked again.

I've been to Taillevent and Arpege - both are excellent, but Arpege is frightfully expensive (dinner will be at least $1K...with water to drink, add a few hundred more for wine).

I'd go to Taillevent.

We just went to Taillevent 2 weeks ago and it was fabulous. They have lost a star and the consensus is that they are working overtime to get it back. The owner, Jean-Claude Vrinat stopped by our table twice. The food and service were both superb. Have a great trip!

Bumping the thread because I was sad to see in the current issue of WS the announcement of the passing of Monsieur Vrinat.
He was a true gentleman and a master of his craft.
Very sad news, indeed.
