My wife and her two girlfriends (early 30s) are going to Napa for a weekend. Does anyone have rec's for dinner? They're looking for fun atmosphere, good food and good wine. Not stuffy and not overly expensive (ie, not French Laundry). They're staying in St. Helena.

Thanks!

I had a nice meal at Go Fish a couple of months ago that I think would fit the bill.

HAHA!

Your wife posted thre same question on Chowhound!

She asked about Cindy's Backstreet, which is great.
She could also seek out Mustard's, but she won't want to go to both. Other than that, I think I basically answered over there. Wink

That's hilarious - and you responded to both! SUCKA!

JK - thanks for the advice, appreciate it. They'll probably be so drunk anyway they'll just order in room service. As long as they buy me some good wine, I don't care.

I have been to Bistro Jeanty a couple of times and it was excellent both times. Good French bistro fare. I still remember the terrine de lapin that I had there the last time. Wow!

I just came back about 3 weeks ago.

Go Fish was fantastic, Redd was very good, I was not overjoyed with Cindy's Backstreet, but not bad, Bouchon not good in my opinion, frozen fries at Bouchon, really one that I would not recommend. Can't remember the italian, and the mexican Compadres is good, fun, but not with wine. Ate there to have a break from the wine, lol. Press was good too for steak.

Second the Rutherford Grill ( it's really a Houston's). The prime rib french dip is awesome. Best $18.00 sandwich ever.

Bouchon was wonderful for lunch. Same with Mustards.

My recommendations for Napa restaurants are:
Tra Vigne, Auberge du Soleil (best view), Bistro Don Giovanni (eat on the patio by the fireplace), and Bistro Jeanty . You can read full reviews of these restaurants at: http://www.cheers2wine.com/romantic-restaurants.html
