Hi Fourm Folks!
My wife and I are planning a trip to the Sierra Foothills I September. We are staying in a time share in Arnold(calaveras county). I would welcome any and all info on the area that you forumites might have.

Thanks,

I was wondering if anyone would catch that. I'm sure there are all kinds on this forum, but at least I know there are some old rockers too. Right On!

Sorry about the tease, I just had to do it. I think this topic came up not too long ago, if you do a search you might be able to find the thread.

September is a great time to visit Calaveras County. There are 21 one tasting rooms and I don't know how many vineyards, mostly in or around the Murphys area that are all worth a visit. Depending on the time of your visit, you may be able to catch the Willie Nelson concert on the 5th at Ironstones beautiful open air amphitheater.

The Big Trees State Park which features...well, some pretty darn big trees, is definitely a must see attraction. And if you're a bit more adventurous there are several extensive cavern sites that have guided tours available.

There are several quality golf courses in the area most notably Greenhorn Creek in Angels Camp and Saddle Creek in Copperopolis. Depending on where you're staying in Arnold you may also have access to Sequoia Woods, a private golf course that is fairly short but quite challenging. Forest Meadows is another fun, very low-key course that is short but quite entertaining.

September is a wonderful time to take a drive over the Ebbetts Pass Scenic Byway on Highway 4. This pass has often been described as the "California Alps" and aside from it's dramatic views the fall colors will be spectacular this time of year.

I could go on and on. Let me know if you'd like to know any more about some of the other fun things you can take advantage of like hiking, biking, kayaking, camping, fishing or whatever else you may be into.
