I am going to the Ryder cup in September but we are flying in and out of Cincy. Does anyone have any good dining recommendations? I am looking for someplace with a decent corkage policy. Also want to get a round of golf (around Cincy) in while we are there.

Thanks

Brian

I'll be able to help you out, and I will give you some good recommendations, but I am really wondering why you are flying in & out of Cincinnati? Cincinnati has the highest fares of any airport in the country. A fare in and out of Louisville, or at least Lexington, has got to be a better deal. Also, in case you don't already know, the Greater Cincinnati Airport is in Kentucky and a good 20 miles outside of Cincinnati.

Yes we are flying in and out of Cincy because it is a Delta hub and that makes a huge difference for me being from Atlanta. A flight every hour plus I used miles to book it so it was the same regardless.

I was aware the the airport is in KY and it is not ideal but our plan is fly in Fri morning play golf. Spend the night in cincy at a downtown hotel. Have a nice dinner. Drive the 90 miles down to Louisville on Sat Morning. Go to the tournament. Spend the night in Louisville watch UGA vs ASU on TV at a sports bar. Got to the tournament on Sunday. Drive back to Cincy and fly home. May change the return flight to Louisville.

IMHO, the finest public course in the area is Shaker Run Golf Club. However, if you are going to be staying in downtown it will not be that convenient as it is about 30 to 35 miles north on 75 out of downtown in Lebanon. Still, it might be worth the drive.

Legendary Run is another nice course and is closer but is still about 20 miles out of downtown on the east side. From downtown you'll need to take 471 into Kentucky & around to OH-125 off of 275.

A nice course owned by the Hamilton County Park District is The Vineyard. It is probably the closest of these 3 courses to downtown – about 15 miles out Route 52 and along the river.

As far as restaurants are concerned, I believe that Jean-Robert at Pigall's is the finest in the city and it is located downtown. It does not, however, have friendly corkage fees. You may want to call to inquire though.

Daveed's located in Mt. Adams is also very close to downtown and is a very nice restaurant. I think that the corkage policy at Daveed's is a bit friendlier but, again, you should inquire.

Hope this helps
