Although I dislike both the Yankees and the Red Socks, I am highly entertained by this and similar threads. Keep 'em coming!

Red Sox: "ummm...errrrr...winning the division is..uhh... meaningless...yeah,meaningless! that's it!... as long as you get into the playoffs."
Not meaningless, but as long as you get the wild card it is all but meaningless. Wild card teams have made it to 6 of the last 7 World Series. Not too shabby since only 25% of the playoff teams each year are wild cards.

In fairness, it does mean that the Red Sox wouldn't have home field advantage until the World Series. Playing the Los Angeles of Ananheim of California Angels out there and then heading to the Yankee Bandbox is no easy task especially when the Sox' home/road splits are pretty drastic.
I'd like to see it if the Yankees win it. If the Yankees don't, I'd rather see them lose the Divisional round. I was at Game 7 of the ALCS in 2004 when the Red Sox completed their great comeback from down 3-0. Fortunately, I was also at Game 7 a year earlier when Aaron Boone homered in the bottom of the 11th.
Just one more sip.

I was at both of them too - I was living in NYC at the time. Each one of those games was a very different experience for both of us!
