OK, I don't recall seeing a thread on this before, so I'll take a shot. Given the influence wine has on our lives, I'm figuring that more people than myself have taken a liking to a piece of art at least in part based on wine / grapes being a part of the piece. Whether it's a painting, photo, sculpture, novel or whatnot doesn't matter to me. So what's your favorite and why?
My favorite is influenced by the wine, but it's only a subtext of the story that appeals to me. The ability to think apart from the crowd that tends to come with age, the introspective thoughts over a glass of wine (perhaps because of the glass of wine) appeals greatly to me. |

Leonardo da Vinci - The Last Supper
Why? Too many reasons to count, too many possible meanings. A prime example of the importance of wine in our culture and its deep roots in the faith I have chosen. ********************************************** "I wish I'd a been a doctor. SD, that painting by Fabian Perez really speaks to me. Thanks for bringing him to my attention. I spent about an hour looking at his work online and have made a mental note to seek out his work. MIZ...ZOU |

In all seriousness, the only wine related art I like is on the sides of wooden crates.

cdr, "the faith I have chosen" - the world could do with more people who state their faith in those terms.
snipes, I'm glad you enjoyed Perez's work, although I have to admit that Untitled II is the only piece of his that I want to own. After we get our daughter through school, I probably will. tanglenet, so which crate is your favorite? |

The one that pops into memory:
Pavilion Rouge (Ch. Margaux) Probably any wooden Bdx crate that has an elevation line drawing of a chateau. I'm not a fan of the coat of arms logos. "When I drink, I think; and when I think, I drink." Francois Rabelais www.tanglenet.com TN posted on Cellartracker |

I am the proud owner of a Thomas Arvid artist proof and I love it. All his work is wine related in one way or another.
