Whole thing looks bad but don't forget how EVERYONE (media, fans, Packers) jumped on him to make a decision quickly this time. So he did, and he made the wrong one. Usually he would wait until around training camp...

I completely agree, what is really dissapointing for most people is I think they thought Favre was somehow different or better than that. Personally I'm not a Packers/Favre fan so I don't really care what happens to him, I just think he looks like a douche who's severely tarnished his reputation in the eyes of many sports fans.

Favre is different. Employee / Employer is not really applicable as the Packers are a community owned team. Tell me what player do you associate more with the Packers community than Favre?

The Packers should not just give him away of course but Favre is not your average NFL employed player. He has given the Packers PLENTY over the years. He made a mistake and handled this whole thing poorly, but lets not act like the Packers did not ride his health and performance for years.
I can't say I disagree with anything you said, my comments are strictly on the last part of your post, the absolutely god awful way he has and continues to handle the process. I can honestly say that I feel bad for Packers fans, they don't deserve this.

MiamiAtty: I have been reading rumors/reports that Farve to the Dolphins has some some legs. Is this true and have you heard anything else? I can't understand why we would want to do this, but whatever.

Any insight is appreciated. I haven't been following this story very much.

Keeps getting weirder, the Pack has filed tampering charges against the Vikings for communicating with Favre.

Keeno...We've heard this from the beginning down here. I can't see any logic to it, but true enough, the story broke down here which kinda makes you wonder. Farve in a Dolphins uniform would just be...odd. I'll keep you posted.

On a side note, one of guys I fished with in Alaska was a really nice kid named Gabe. I let him stay at my home a few times while he passed through to fish the Keys. Before he left I gave him 1/2 case of assorted bubbly and wine (nothing great) to take up to Alaska (It's a remote, "dry" village and he'll be there guiding when I get there). Well, a week ago he sends me a bunch of pics of he and Czonka catching huge kings. Gabe told him about this Dolphinatic he stayed with in Miami, and how glad he was that The Perfect Season was still alive etc. I ask Gabe, did you bust out the bubbly from Miami to toast??!! Gabe says..."I forgot". ARRGH!

Send me your email and I'll send you the pics if you like.

Thanks for the info. That's funny about your guide friend. Would love to see the pics: wbkeene@mac.com

We'll see what happens with Favre. I agree that it would be weird seeing him in a Dolphins uniform. I am thinking that we need to develop one of young guys. As for my personal opinion, I am pulling for Beck. Seems like a good guy and really eager to prove himself. He certainly seems smarter than McClown. The guy almost lopped his finger off chopping wood with his brother Confused
Looking forward to the competition. Thanks again.

Darryl Bevel is the offensive coordinator for the vikings who was his quarterback coach at green bay years ago. They talk sometimes. The vikings head coach brad childress has tavaras jackson as his guy. They don't want the circus here. The packers would never let it happen anyway giving him his release to go to any team unless they traded him for draft picks to a team that is not in their division.

In the quotes I have heard from recent interviews with Favre, he stated that the Packers did not want him back AND the Packers could NOT see him playing for anyone else. He also stated they wanted him to make a statement in March.

If your company gave you a similar ultimatum, what would you do? If you had the chance to earn 10 million plus for one year, would you take that opportunity? Sometimes ego does not factor into your decision when one is talking about 10 million plus for one year. And yes, anything is possible in the way of injury but Brett is not exactly injury prone.

Seems to be one of those scenarios that just when you think it couldn't get any worse, it gets worse. PR nightmare in many aspects.

As of today I guess reports say he will show up to camp and battle Aaron Rodgers for the starting job and if he doesn't win will ask for a trade elsewhere. They are still trying to bust the Vikings for tampering but I don't think the Vikes would be stupid enough to negotiate with him while Green Bay still owns his rights.

Forgive me for coming to this so late but I've been away.

I agree with W+A (major shock, I know). It strikes me that Brett Favre realized he would miss the attention and glory and decided to throw a bit of a fit and try to get his way. It's just tacky and sad but not a huge surprise.

Oh...lets see throws an interception that leads to a field goal that wins the playoff game that sends the Giants off to Super Bowl. Then he retires? Ego!!!!! Won't let him go. Word in the New York area today is the Jets...Yes the Jets are mulling over the possibility. You can't make this crap up. Go Giants! Let me get back to my Cab!

Favre truly has no shame. He is starting to look like a mercenary. Frown

No class, and totally narcissistic. Hi, I'm Brett Favre and I'm bigger than the team. He has held the team hostage for several years.

He has ONE Super Bowl, congratulations, now...

GO AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Roll Eyes

Apparently Favre's preference is to stay within the division, namely Minny or Chicago. Anyone know why, other than giving the screws to the Packers?

Both teams biggest question marks are QB. Chicago may have more ?? than Minnesota at this time and he may be saying 'staying in the division' just to avoid saying 'I want to be a Viking'.

Now that he's in camp, but not practicing because 'hes upset by what has been said' its going from the dramatic to the absurd. I'm just happy seeing the Packers distracted. Considering he would only sign with a team that can contend for a title, there are only a few teams on the short list and MN is the best team with a questionable QB situation, so I'm not too worried about competition for him if he is released. He's not going to want to sign with someone like TampaBay even for more money and get sacked 5 times a game.

He has had his time of greatness. He is a first ballot Hall of Famer. Favre just needs to give it up already, I used to respect him but what he has done to completely disrupt the Packers team when they were all set on Aaron Rodgers at QB shows how Brett is all about himself and screw the team. Ol Brett wants to pad his stats some more.

I am no Packer fan, but the way Favre has been is very wrong. If he should force his way in to starting, I really hope some defensive players knocks him out for the year with a massive hit.

The job should be Rodgers. Screw Favre. Retire gramps.

At this point they should just release him and let him go where he wants. They don't want him and I really don't think they need him. The Packers have a good team on both sides of the ball and just locked up Ryan Grant their running back for the future. It's going to be heavy baggage no matter where he ends up. Opening night for the vikes and packers is monday night at green bay. It would be funny to see him come out of the visitors tunnel.

His rights belong to the Packers. Period. If he doesn't want to operate on their terms, then retire.

The feelings of entitlement by today's athletes are completely absurd....
