I managed to miss every single game of the Finals due to my honeymoon...and I think it was probably good for me. I'm shocked the Wings didn't pull it out at home, and hats off to the Pens for grabbing it.

Blackhawks just signed Marian Hossa to a 12 year contract. I guess it's safe to say that Havlat is gone.

Why would the Hawks sign a 30 year old to a 12 year contract? In any event he certainly makes the Hawks an even more explosive team for the next few years at least, if they keep improving there is no reason they shouldn't be hoisting the Cup within the next 3 years.

Hossa signing with the Chicago doesn't bode well for the Hawks...after playing for the runner-up Pens 2 years ago, he jumps ship and signs with the Wings only to be runner-up again this year!...to the Team he bolted from!

Havlat...great talent...fragile body!

Difference...Hossa was an under-achiever in the playoffs, whereas Havlat scored some back-breaking goals vs the Flames and Canucks.

The contract is heavily front loaded. $62 million over 12 years, but $59 million of that will be paid out in the first 8 years. The remainder, if he is in fact still playing, will be paid over the last 4 years.

The 12 year contract is only for salary cap reasons. The NHL averages the total over the life of the contract, thus making his salary cap hit $5.2 million per year, regardless of what he is actually being paid.

Gaborik dead. I hope the New York fans and media are happy when he has a groin pull and is out for most of the season every year.
