I'm guessing Detroit will pull out game 7. Pittsburgh has not played well at all in Detroit. Unless something drastically changes from the first 3 games in Detroit, the Redwings will repeat.

I can't believe I just typed that. Wink

thelostverse,

Hard to argue that the Wings are favored for game 7, but I disagree that the Pens were outplayed in games 1 and 2. Ironically, I think the Wings outplayed the Pens in game 3 and lost. Go figure.

I hope everyone shows up and plays well. It should be fun to see.

While I am a Penguins fan, I am looking at this from a realists point of view. I am proud of the Pens for bringing this to game 7 after coming back from being down 0-2. That alone is pretty impressive.

However, as much as it pains me to say it, the Pens have not proven they can win in Detroit and it will not happen in game 7 either. Had the Pens had home field advantage, we would win this one. But, the Wings have homefield and after the way the Pens got blown out in game #5, I can't see them winning in Detroit.

Anything can happen when it all comes down to one game. Here's hoping this goes into several overtimes.

Oh ya? What do you have to say now? Smile

Way to go Penguins, thank you, thank you so much for dispatching the devil. Oh, and the Pens clinched every series on the road...

Oh, and I'd hate to be Hossa right about now...

I am at a complete loss for words. I am so beyond happy right now for the Penguins I have no words. It was a gut wrenching, agonizing game in that I was just waiting for Detroit to luck out and win it. I seriously thought after the sound beatings the Pens took in the previous 3 games, that the experience Detroit has it was not gonna be this year for my Penguins.

Wow, just wow, I am eating major crow for doubting my Penguins, I am so proud of them. This has been a great year. Steelers win the Super Bowl, Pens with the Stanley, now we just have to get the Pirates on the right track.

Way to go Pens, sorry for doubting you on the road in game 7, a sweet victory to say the least!!!

That's what happens when you sell your soul to the devil, or sign with the Wings. Same thing, just evil in a different form.

What made this win for the Pens so rare is that they are only the 3rd team ever to win the Stanley on the road in a 7th game. And one of only a select few teams to ever come back from being down 0-2 and winning the Stanley.

It feels great to stuff it in the Red Wings faces right in their house!! I am still in shock we pulled it off in Detroit, but wow!!!

Man this sucks...I'm shocked and so pissed. The wings didn't care to show up for a Game 7 at home.
I hope Stuart got 2 assists on the Pens goals...
Congrats to the Pens. They played well enough to deserve the Cup (kills me to write that !)
Wings will bring back the Cup next year where it belongs.
Go Wings.

Indeed a GREAT game to watch.
I was completely shocked to see the Cup go to Pitts. on Detroit ice. WOW!
They deserved that win completely. Good going.

I'm not sure there is anything like game 7 in the Stanley Cup finals.

I was a season ticket holder until the strike. I have been very slow to return to the sport, but this years playoffs may have won me over.

The save Fleury made with 2 seconds left was amazing. It may have hit him as much as he saved it, but he dove to the right place and saved the game, match and cup for the Pens.

I'm happy they won because now I can say the Bruins got beat by a team who was beaten by the best. Smile

I would not count on that. As much as I am enjoying the Pens win, I'm just going to take it a game at a time next year. Getting back to a Championship for a 3rd straight season is very hard. Even though I do NOT think the Penguins as a team have hit their peak and that the best is yet to come and more Stanely's are in our future, it will take a mighty effort for even a team as young as the Pens to get back a 3rd straight time.

Steve8,

Fleury was huge in the final 2 games. That humiliating 5-0 loss in game 5 seemed to fire up Fleury and get him a zone. I actually think Fleury should have gotten the MVP because he is the reason we won game #6 and game #7. But that is just my opinion. I'm just glad we won.

This was a strange game. The Wings looked exhausted, out-of-touch, and completely lacked their normal ability to control the game in their end. (In essence, it looked like they were playing in Pittsburg again).

The thing that bothered me the most was the 2 1/2 periods of single-forward entries into the zone....where were the other two forwards? The wings couldn't keep it on the right end.

Hats off to the Pens...they took the wings right out of their game and deserved to win....even though they remain a bunch of goons.

PSF, I agree with you. A 3rd straight SCF is very hard. I'm just trying to convince myself with something positive. That loss was and is still hard to swallow.
Enjoy the summer. It is awesome to win the Cup.

What was very hard about this game for us Penguins fans was, when we lost Crosby. That was seriously the longest time ever for a game to go by, worrying that sooner or later the Wings would heat it up.

For some reason, I think our two teams will meet again in the SCF, not next year, but very likely in one of the next couple of seasons.
