Malkin's third goal last night was insane. It looks like a Pens/Wings final is in the cards.

I knew Crosby was a legit star but not having seen the Pens much I had no idea how good Malkin was. Wow is all I can say about that combo. The Bruins couldn't have kept up with them offensively. Their only chance would have been Thomas finishing out a career year with his very best stuff and that might not have been enough. Too bad Pittsburgh doesn't have better goal keeping, they'd be a lock to win it all.

Both series are 2-0 in favor of the home teams. I'm not quite ready to give up on the Hawks just yet. I'm not saying they are going to come back and win the series, but I think it's too early to hand the series to the Wings and Penguins after only two home games.

If the Hawks lose tonight, I'll agree that this series is over.

Go Hawks!

The refs should wear Hawks jerseys, it would save some us time watching TV.
What a terrible way to ref a game.
I guess the NHL wanted a Game 5, now they have it.
Disgusting.

Officiating was awful in that 1st period tonight. Not sure how much of an impact it would have had on the game, as the Hawks seemed to be controlling puck & tempo even before the refs decided they had to call a penalty on the Wings every 2 minutes (or less). I am still shocked Kronwall got a major & game misconduct, since I barely even saw a minor penalty on the play.

That 2nd goal given up by the Wings was the killer for me - Ozzie can't give up that rebound, but I can't fault him too much as he played brilliantly in the first two games and seemed to recover well the rest of the game tonight.

Game 4 on Sunday will be huge...unfortunately my my wedding ceremony starts a half hour after the game starts. Even though he hasn't produced lately, I hope Pavel is back for Game 4.

As usual you provencialais have been drinking a little too much grenache before the hockey game. The calls in the second were ridiculously tilted in favor of Detroit. Little ticky tacky siht was getting called like crazy, all of it against the Hawks.

Other than being a (secondary) Hawks fan, I now realize why I hate Detroit: They're boring. So methodical, so rehearsed, so mundane. The face is they have more great players than any other team right now, it's just that it's a chore to watch them play hockey.

Not looking good for next year either.

Touche! There are no Canadiens to watch- with 9 UFA's I'm not sure who's going to be on that team next year. Hopefully not too many who were out there this year.

I was actually at the game last night.

The 2nd period represented what hockey is...evening the score. The fact that the Wings lost a top 4 defenseman on a hit that EVERY analyst says was a clean hit and they played over half the 1st period shorthanded makes it seem like it was their turn for a PP or two. I understand the violent collision that it was and do not wish anyone to get hurt, but Havlat had was not looking up, the puck was there, and Kroner hit him. In the end, whether that happens, or whether the Wings get a few PP's in the 2nd period, I still see it being a hell of a closely played game and the Hawks pulled out a close one in OT.

Time to move on to Game 4 and see what the old fellas and the young boys are ready to do. My money is on the old fellas...they can't let me down on my wedding day.

I guess the OT loss did not deflate the Wings.

Its going to be one heck of a Cup final with all the firepower that the Pens and Wings have on the ice. I like the Wings but it is hard not to be pulling for the Pens and their youth, its their time.

The Wings sure put a beatdown on the Hawks in game 4. Fortunately, I was out watching my son's lacrosse championship game, and I was unable to watch the horror. Imagine how bad it may have been if Lidstrom and Datsyuk played. Is there a possible bounce-back in game 5? I guess it's possible, but not probable.

This will be the first time since the early '80s that the same teams meet in consecutive years at the Cup final. Go Pens!
