The Proposal

Simple entertainment but actually enjoyed this quite a bit.

Slumdog Millionare - the start was a bit gruesome, but it got much better.

Transformers 2

Visually stunning, but not much else. I enjoyed part 1 very much more.

The Professional.

Great movie but seeing a young Natalie Portman in makeup and slut attire is kind of creepy.

Brilliant movie! Enjoyed Damien Rice's theme song to this as well.

MJAlbers:

Yes, the theme song was excellent; and can be seen on YouTube, "The Blower's Daughter" . Also, the look on Jude Law's face when he saw the name of Alice Ayres on the wall, realizing he really didn't know Alice's true name, and he had no chance of ever seeing her again, although Portman had mentioned her real name, everyone thought it was just a made up name! Then, when she passed customs, the camera shows her passport and it was her real name---Jane Jones! Wow!

Recently saw Auto Focus. Wow, I had no idea Bob Crane's life had sunk so low.
Greg Kinnear was passable as Crane. Willem Dafoe was great as usual, but what a weird-looking dude, especially when he's playing creepy characters.

Another version of The Blower's Daughter by Damien Rice, from the movie "Closer" staring Natalie Portman, Julia Roberts, Jude Law and Clive Owen.

I have the DVD which also includes the "Blower's Daughter" video. Time to revisit this one. The casting for this was spot on! The raw sexuality and human emotion in this movie was captivating; very well done.

Re: Closer -- I liked it, didn't love it, but Natalie and Clive Owen were BRILLIANT in it. Danced actingcircles around Julia Roberts and Jude Law, imo, though Roberts and Law were also quite good.

winetarelli,

I thought the ensemble of Portman, Owen, Law and Roberts worked great. But yes, Natalie & Owen had the juicy parts, and Natalie was stunning at the Art Show, dressed in Black! The slap by Law was real, and he immediately knew he had crossed the line. Also, when Law saw the name Alice Ayers on the wall, his expression was priceless. I think I like "Closer" more than you!

I liked it, but found it was somewhat hard to do so.

YFW,

Sorry, but I'm not sure I understand. Did the movie "grate" on you, or did you think it was a "great" movie? The cast is really excellent, with Morgan Freeman, Radha Mitchell, Antonio Banderas, and Robert Forster.

indybob,

"Thick as Thieves" was out earlier this year. I think the DVD was out in July or August.

I saw this again recently and could barely sit through this highly rated, multiple award winning, David Lean, film, as this film was cropped. I think you must see this film on the "big screen" to get the full effect, or rent a blu-ray DVD.
