Was this Nick Cage's annual terrible movie of 2008?

Why not the Kenneth Branagh version? I was a junior in high school and had just read Hamlet when Branagh's version came out and I really liked it.

His Henry V is outstanding as well.

Actually, I'm a huge fan of his, in general, and have been from a very early age. When I was 12 years old I bumped into the girl I had a crush on at the video store. She told me I had to rent Dead Again. I HATED and was freaked out by scary movies, but I couldn't let Rachel know! So I rented it, and watched it thinking she might ask me about it in school... and I loved it. I've been a fan of his (and Emma Thompson's) ever since.

Speaking of... I haven't seen Dead Again in years... perhaps it is time to re-visit...

My wife has a thing for Branagh, and Dead Again is one of her favorites.

It is an excellent movie. It is the first movie I can recall seeing where I watched it as a piece of art and had true appreciation of the direction and acting.

So... your wife is an HP fan and a fan of Branagh's? Anglophile, or mere coincidence? Wink

A couple reasons - 1. the Branagh version is too long and takes too much class time. 2. the Hawke version is so bad, that it makes for great essay fodder.

I have been trying to figure out "HP", but then I finally remembered that I posted regarding my wife's affinity for Harry Potter.

To answer your question: just a coincidence. Smile

Stranger Than Fiction

My wife and I really enjoyed this movie. There were terrific performances given by the entire cast. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Normally I can't stand Will Farrell, but he's not bad in straight roles.

Took my son to Astro Boy. It's funny how so many kids animated movies have bleak and twisted themes.

Just finished Rome, second season. What a great series... Sad that it's over, but maybe good that they ended it before it really went south.

What do I do now?

Anyone seen An Education. I' not a girl but I do like Nick Hornsby's screeenplays and they say the girl in it is the real deal. (As well, obviously, as Saarsgaard, Molina, etc)
