I just read an interview with Robert Redford in Art Works. This was a very important movie and time in his career, and a precursor to the Sundance Film Festival.
The Reader. Of the five nominated for Oscars this is the third I've seen and I'd place it third behind Slumdog and Milk. It's a good flick but the other two beat it by a mile in my book.
I think we're going to catch Button at 2PM today, just in time for us to get back home for PURPLE to see what everybody is wearing on the red carpet. I'll be out back slow smoking some ribs and smoking a cigar myself.

Sounds like my day today, except for the ribs and cigar part.

But that sounds like the best part. Especially since we're getting 4-6 inches of snow today.

Wow, too bad. It's supposed to be a high here today of 60F and currently bright and sunny with a handful of lovely white and fluffy clouds hanging in the sky.

Benjamin Button. I was quite surprised. I didn't even really want to see it initially but I thought it was a pretty good flick. Don't think I'd go so far and say it's an Oscar winner but still pretty entertaining.

I just loved it Joe, a fantastic movie. Even though I started making Forrest Gump comparisons about 1/3 of the way through (found out afterwards it was the same script-writer). Still, very happy Slumdog won best picture. Not my pick, but it was worthy.

Makes Plan 9 and Killer Tomatoes look like Lawrence of Arabia.
Plan 9 and Killer Tomatoes need to be watched only after ingesting certain substances. At which point they are MUCH more enjoyable than Lawrence of Arabia! Not that I'd really know, of course....

I'd add Kentucky Fried Movie to that list.

I thought the trailer looked dreadful... was I wrong?
duck833 Member Posted Feb 22, 2009 12:07 AM Hide Post Not a bad movie, simplistic but if you like wine you will enjoy it. Best enjoyed with a nice bottle though. *********************************************
Saw this last night (not an Oscar fan), and I agree with duck833. Simplistic, but not as bad as everyone made it out to be. You just have to remember that it is VERY loosly based on reality. My daughter and I shared a Moscato d'Asti while watching it. Has anyone ever tried wine by the Gustavo character? At the end, it said he started his own winery.
