Glad you liked Gran Torino Glenn. I'm cautiously declaring I enjoyed it better than Milk, Slumdog, or Frost/Nixon. The one of these four I plan to see twice.

Without Limits

This is the Robert Towne directed movie about Steve Prefontaine starring Billy Crudup, Donald Sutherland, Monica Potter.

Having also seen the Disney produced Prefontaine, I personally liked Without Limits more. I think Billy Crudup did an excellent job as Prefontaine (though Jared Leto's version was also good). Donald Sutherland is terrific as Bill Bowerman and Monica Potter did a nice job in her role as Mary Marckx (plus, she's very pleasant on the eyes).

Lastly, they chose some good music for some of the soundtrack, courtesy of Joe Walsh, David Crosby, Lou Reed, Lee Michaels, Jefferson Airplane, Blind Faith, and Cream

Not a bad flick but definitely not a classic.

I'd be tempted to go now. I can certainly see why he was nominated for an Oscar. I think he gave a dang good performance.

w+a. nope. I haven't. As I posted last week I've been seriously remiss in seeing movies the past 6 months or more so now I'm in catch up mode.

Next weekend on tap is The Reader, Benjamin Button or Revolution Road. Which one first boys and girls?

Haven't seen these three yet, but my wife has, and recommends them.

I hear you on the six months thing. Seems like my movie theater sprees each year come in two waves:

1. Summer blockbusters (Batman, Cloverfield in '08).
2. Pre-Oscar heavies (Jan/early Feb).

I'm trying to get back into the habit of seeing at least one movie or one museum/art gallery on a regular basis. Both are great ways for me to get out of the house (I telecommute) and just drop out and relax a little.

PURPLE has some volunteer work this afternoon so I'll likely catch a flick she doesn't want to see with my youngest son. Doubleheader weekend!
