Me too! Got one during my 1.3 mile commute to work last week. Going 42 on a 30. Because it was a municipal road, the ticket got me for $254!

You guys will probably hate me for this, but I'm guessing if you lived on that road and have kids you would want everyone ticketed for going any amount over the limit. I've found it funny at how angry I've been the few times I've gotten speeding tickets. Usually takes me a day or two to realize I should have been angry at myself for being in that position!

My intent isn't to tweak you guys, just an observation...

Bill

Ever hear of a radar detector?

Here in PGA they try to nab us at 28 mph in a 25. My Valantine One catches the use of radar and laser all the time.

I agree if this was in a residential area but this was on a back road through an almost infrastructure-less area of the design district in Miami. Literally NO ONE on the street.

In a neighborhood I would never exceed the speed limit.

I hear ya. It's an easy revenue stream for communities now to increase traffic enforcement. Here in the Chicago area it's unreal how many red light cameras are going up. Also, if you speed in a construction zone it's a min. fine of $375 for the first offense. Sign of the times I guess.

Agree on the revenue stream. One town here has a van at the side of the street and has collected $ 150,000 in 4 months. Juno only has 3,000 folks. There are quite a few law suits coming from this and red light cameras.

I can't imagine that the unmanned "Speeding Ticket Van" is constitutional. This van just sits there on the side of the road and takes photos of license plates of cars exceeding the speed limit. The ticket is sent to the owner of the car (whom they assume was the driver). The company that owns the van gets a percentage of the "take."

It costs $50 to contest the ticket.

Umm, whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty?

I was going to recount my disgust at getting caught in a small town speed trap (first moving violation in 40 years), but this does it better.

Cops shoot fire chief.

I got one a couple months ago on my way to the cabin. I was stuck following a truck pulling a ski boat up an incline, and the truck was all over the road. I passed when clear once on the downhill, and then slowed down, but the CHP at the bottom of the hill got me. Ticked me off, but what can you do? I was just praying that neither Dom nor Vin was going to say something to the officer.

Perfect.

Wonder if we can vandalize the van. Serve them right.
