quote: Love the Artest deal. Not much money for the talent we are getting and he instantly makes the team tougher, especially for the playoffs. Ariza was great in the playoffs, but not proven enough to get the money he was looking for.
Tougher to ba a fan in the stands that's for sure. He's a punk just like Marbury. I didn't like when Boston signed him either. Both are great talents but they have too many marks on their records for me to root for either of them but if they can cheer Manny out in LA they can certainly enjoy Artest. They're cut from the same cloth. I also don't like the offer Boston made Wallace either and I won't root for him if he signs there. He's an ass. But like you said a very active off season with lots of big names bouncing around. Just hope the thugs don't bounce Bostons way.

Losing Ariza for Artest... sounds like more of a gain than a loss. Celtics just made their offer for Wallace and the Knicks are making an offer for Kidd. Why do people want Kidd? The Mavericks have to be kicking themselves for one of the worst trades I have ever seen in acquiring him.

Shaq to the Cavs (I hope) more or less makes the East a non-contest.

dannyk, when did you become a member of the organization? Not to pick on you , but that is my biggest pet peeve with fans. Unless you work for the organization, don't use the word "we"....

DVD, I totally agree with you, but have one question. How do you feel about MWG? "2010, hello. We took Ricky Rubio with the fifth pick. He and his family want nothing to do with the wolves this year or next year or any year. We have his rights but I dont think we will ever see him in a timberwolves uniform. Maybe we can sign and trade him for a player in a couple of years."
Remember to always aim high, that way you won't get any on your shoes.

I’m with Danny on this one. I have invested a lot of time and money in the Lakers. They are my team. I have no problem with we, us, etc…

I am. It is just a pet peeve of mine. And again, not picking on you personally, as noted by Vt2It. My father was a sportswriter and it is just the way I grew up, which continued when I was in my newspaper editing phase. I understand where you and GlennK are coming from, as I have a long standing vested interest (time and monetarily) in the teams I root for, but it is just one of those pet peeves.

Shaq for the Cavs will be entertaining but they neeed a power forward who must be guarded and size in the backcourt. Carter to Orlando is a fantastic move. Sheed to the Celtics is going to work out well but they still need depth/athleticism on the wing. I think Sheed would have had more impact had he gone to the Spurs.
I'm sad to see Ariza go but his agent overplayed his hand. I'd reather have Artest guarding 'Melo, Manu, Carter, Pierce and LeBron come playoff time anyway.
Neil
Sheed just wouldn't work with the Spurs. They got Jefferson, which is the type of player that works with the squad they have. Maybe the Spurs need another piece, but I think they are set for now. They just need to stay healthy. Agreed, the Cavs need something. Shaq alone is not going to do much more than protect the Cavs vs. Howard and give them size vs. the Celtics. I just don't know what is available to pick up. It is clear Lebron can only carry them so far.

I felt that way 5 years ago when the Pistons grabbed him and loved him for most of the time he was in Detroit (despite having the same feelings at that time as you do now). BUT....his act got old after awhile and most people were ready for him to be gone a year or two ago. I think Boston got him for just a couple years, so that could be OK. As weird as it is to say, sometimes we ended up loving it when he got a Technical.

Heard an interesting interview with Mitch Kupchak yesterday. He basically said there is no way they are giving him $10M a year when no other team is going to offer Odom more that the mid-level, which is about $6M. He did say that they do want him back and are working towards meeting in the middle.
