It's time to send the the destiny, re-birth, win it for Katrina victims tear jerking stories back to 60 Minutes and the Today Show.

Soldier Field in January AIN'T the SuperDome.

DA BEARS!

Can't beat Little Sisters of the Poor when you turn over the ball 4 times.

Hats off to the Bears.

If it's Bears vs Pats in Da Bowl, I'm playing golf...

How long are people gonna keep milking this Katrina thing? Move on, for goodness' sake. Dwelling on that which hurts you is never a good idea. If the Saints would have won, Katrina would be the tie on all over the media and the two are not connected in any way. It's sad that the status we seem to admire more than any other in America is victimhood.

What a game yesterday! As we were piling out of the stadium there were massive chants of WHO DAT directed towards the poor Saints fans who were ballsy enough to show up in Saints gear yesterday. There was a surprising number of them, I would guess >5,000, and given that Soldier Field only seats 61,000 that's not bad.

Too bad for the Saints. If only they knew how to play football, it could have been a great story!

Grossie,
You've earned the right to gloat. We'll see how well Da Bears "play football" next week.

2 great coaches but it was Tony and Peyton's time. They would not be denied.

I mean, they may never have an undefeated season like the '72 Phins, but N.O. is a great city and lots to build on for next year.

Surprisingly. it's now one of the best tax shelter locations for uber-capitalists. Many are moving corporations from the Caymans to the Netherlands. Smile

ccr11,

Your posts on this thread show how truely ignorant you are of the reality of what happened here with Katrina and what the City and its people are still going through. Believe me, we'd all love to take your suggestion to get over it but that's not possible when one is not through with it yet.

Wineaux,

Don't take it personally. As an outside observer and taxpayer, I have an interest in expecting results with the Tens of BILLIONS of dollars committed and spent and the place still looks like a war zone. What the hell is going on and who's in charge? The incessant whining from the politicians gets old. Blaming Bush gets old. How long do the rest of us have to be told we're not doing enough when the people there seem unable to do for themselves? I'm fatigued by the whole thing and the inneffective, corrupt governments you folks have elected and and have not held accountable over the years have not earned anything but my contempt.

As far as N.O. being a great city - is that not debatable? Because you like it and it's a sentimental favorite because we all love underdogs and victims in America, does that mean it's a great city? Natural disaster aside, N.O.'s greatness was shown to be a facade. It is a violent, poorly managed city full of people unable to care for themselves and a history of corruption in all levels of government. The schools are a disaster, the infrastructurre was obviously poorly managed. Good restaurants and a famous street do not a great city make.

Get over it? Some may never be able to and I wouldn't blame them. I believe you the citizens of N.O. and we, the taxpayers footing the bill do have a right to expect some significant progress a year and a half after the event. But you folks reelected Nagin! I simply do not understand what the hell is going on and it bothers me, o.k.?

CCR, you're right on many points, but being right doesn't accomplish much.

Go to Mardi Gras and you won't really care. Wink

Originally, I was referring to my own trips to N.O. before Katrina. Lots of history, I enjoy the food, the music (even Zydeco), the people have always been friendly, and I like beignets and chicory coffee to clear my head after a strong showing on the town. The town has flavor and culture all its own.

You are right though. What is happening there is an abomination, but sooner or later it will get better.
