Given recent history, do you REALLY want to give this admission? Not a fan of either team but I do not feel comfortable until the final out is noted.

Perhaps too many anticipated victories minimized by reality.

Yeah. I remember the 2004 Red Sux coming back to win the ALCS against the Yankees after losing the first three games. I was at Game 7. Well, I was also at Game 7 a year earlier for the Aaron Boone homer.

Just one more sip.

I recall the Rays going on a 7 game losing streak earlier this year, so no reason to call it a done deal quite yet. I know they prefer the position they are in vs. the Sox, and no doubt Maddon will keep them grounded.

If you had to pick a young 3rd baseman to build a team around, it would be hard not to pick Longoria. Pretty impressive for a 23 year old. Him and David Wright are the 2 that come to mind.

Did a bunch of Angelenos move to Boston or something? Fenway was emptying out in the 7th inning. I thought it was only an LA phenomena....

The Sox have come back from down 3-0 and 3-1 in both recent years they won the world series so I'm not giving up yet but I do think it is unlikely that both will make the same comeback.

Maddon is however saving Shields now for a possible game 6 and starting Kazmir, who the Sox have rattled around recently like the Rays have done to them for the last few games. Dumb move on my opinion when Shields could stick the fork in them tonight but we'll see.

The Sox better do well tonight or they're going to ruin my poker game.

Don't worry, you can play a peaceful poker game tonight. The Sox won't lose tonight...of course they won't win either Smile

Damn, does Furcal have some big gambling debts??

The thought of Stinkydelphia having a chance to possibly win the World Series makes me want to puke. The Rays really must win the ALCS now!

Sad, but to be honest I didn’t think they had a chance to get to the NLCS this year so it turned out to be a nice season. With their young hitting and pitching, I think we finally have a solid base to build something on. Hopefully McCourt wakes up and fires Colletti and promotes Logan White. That would be the best offseason move of all!

Hey Chile,

Its not going to happen, but if the sox are "lucky" enough to win the next 3, I am curious who you will root for or will the TV not even be turned on Smile

Well..in that scenario, I COULD watch the games that Beckett pitches...but no doubt since they both can't lose, I'd probably watch something else. There are only 4 teams I can't stand..so it would suck if two of the 4 made it.

I am one happy and satisfied Phillies fan this morning. Now on to the World Series.

If Tampa does win the ALCS, it will be an interesting dynamic, as the Philles train in very nearby Clearwater.

congrats to the Phillies, they're the better team and deserved to win...

but oh man was that painful to watch last night... the 1st HR by Rollins didn't actually down the crowd that much, well, in comparison to the rest of the game at least Frown. more then anything, just missed opportunities for the Dodgers this series - for the most part, they were terrible with RISP, esp the bottom half of the order, though Ethier & Martin both struggled as well and they were terrible with 2 outs vs the Phils who did quite a bit of damage with 2 outs... and obviously watching Furcal bumble the 5th by himself was just numbing in and of itself... i think except for Game 5, the Dodger's had held the lead in every game at some point... easily could have been 3-1 Blue Crew going into last night but the way it goes...

oh well, lots to go on with this team... Kent's & Nomar's contract is up, Andruw Jones is in the last year of the (thank god) 2 year deal (just release him already)... Martin, Loney & Ethier are all done with their rookie deals, Lowe & Furcal are FA's, Penny & Schmidt all have club options and unfortunately we're on the hook for Pierre for 3 more years... and we'll see where Manny ends up!

I think this was THE key to the series. They more than struggled. The Phils had no problem pitching to Manny, because they had no worries that anybody in the four-hole would be capable of hurting them.

It will be an interesting off-season for Colleti....

Manny in orange and black?!?!?!? Eek

It's a little premature but congrats to the Rays and all 5000 of their fans. It looks like a bunch of the Red Sox can go home and wait with Manny to see who the highest bidder for their services will be. I'm sure it's the end for Timlin, maybe Wakefield and Varitek too. Time for some more young blood I'd say.

At least there's plenty of room on their bandwagon so I can hop on and cheer for the AL, but no mohawk and no cow bell for me thank you. They're a really good young team and they made my Red Sox look like a bunch of tired old men. It'll be interesting to see if they spend any money to keep this team together or if they follow the Marlins example and hold a fire sale after they win the World Series. Congrats again to them they were definitely the better team. Now I'm going to bed, I'm not going to watch them celebrate on the field at Fenway.

As the Sox scored 4 runs in the 7th, it is premature.

FSU boy JD Drew knocks out a two run homer to make it a one run game.
