In the Bay Area, we have been making plans for
October since early May. Not a good thing.

Will be golfing in Cabo in mid October.

I know it is too early to be talking about awards but would like to provide some information about Tim Lincecum, one of the bright spots for the Giants.

He is 15-3 with a team that is 15 games below .500 in a bad division. He leads the majors in strikeouts and is tied for the ML lead in ERA. His main competition for the Cy Young award is Brandon Webb who is in the SAME bad division on a team that is over .500.

If you have the opportunity to see Lincecum pitch, do it. He has 4 pitches and throws them on any count.

Lincecum is terrific and with a half run lead in ERA, the voters might see past Webb's higher win total. Don't bet on that, though, award voters tend to love wins and RBIs more than ERA and OPS.

Lincecum is amazing and his strikeout numbers have made huge strides. I would put Webb, Halladay, and Lee ahead for the award though.

Where's Wine Wiz when I need him. Island not heard from for a while. Maybe he's lost in his 10,000 s.q. wine cellar somewhere in Manhattan.

Well...just let me replace him. I grew up in Winter Haven, Florida. The former spring training home of the Boston Red Sox until 1991 or 1992..and I must say, the most annoying fans on the face of this big round earth...are Red Sox fans!!!!

Granted, Yankee fans aren't much better, but Yankee fans are Catfish, while Red Sox fans are bottom feeding scum suckers! Oh..and John Henry is the biggest living turd on earth. They should admit him into the Smithsonian!

Just trying to plant seeds. Just hoping they look at the bigger picture with Lincecum leading the league in ERA and strikeouts and tied for third in wins. Do wish they would consider the number of times Lincecum has left a game with the lead only to have the bullpen blow up.

And good for 36 year old Scott McClain. A modern day Crash Davis finally hitting his first major league home run after all those years toiling in the minors....

Dodgers are on a nice winning streak since Jeff Kent went out with a mustache injury. You can’t talk smack about Vin Scully and expect good baseball karma!!!

I think Dick Enberg and Vin Scully are the two most over-rated sports announcers I've heard.

Just one more sip.

We will have to agree to disagree on that one. Obviously I’m biased being a Dodger fan, but Vinny is the best baseball announcer I have ever heard. I love the way he prepares for a game and all the back stories he provides on players for other teams. A true professional in my opinion.

I only know him as an annouincer on national TV. Some years ago, when Bill White had finally developed into a fine announcer for the Yankees, I heard him doing a national telecast and felt it was a shame that he tried to be a machine, like Scully and Enberg, rather than relax and allow his personality to shine through as he did on the Yankee broadcasts.

I think the best ever was Jim Kaat.

By the way, the Yabnkees have THE WORST radio announcer- John Sterling. I find it almost impossible to listen to the games on radio if I'm in the car.

Just one more sip.

What do you mean? You don't like to hear this: "Three-two pitch to Bernie ... there goes a deep fly ball to right-center ... it is HIGH, it is FAR, it is GONNNEEEEE!!! Bern-baby-bern. Bernie Williams ...." Wink

Agreed, for me, the Dodgers and Vin Scully go hand in hand.

Only someone from New York could not like him Wink

So we lose 8 in a row, win 8 in a row and now in first by a game and a half. Crazy season for the Dodgers. In 35 games with the Dodgers Manny is hitting .410 with 11 HR’s, 34 RBI’s and an OPS of 1.263. Pretty good return on the zero dollars we paid for him. Big Grin Cool
