It's a shame the Tribe gets the first unassisted triple play in 14 years and still lose. Oh well, maybe this year will be better, though it's looking rough so far.

Board-O,

Don't go and hurt yourself now...the games are in St. Pete and not NY, so you have to expect to lose some road games.

Certainly a better ending than watching Uggla striking out to end the game just 20 minutes prior.

How much longer does Torre give Andrew Jones to turn it around? .170, 5 RBI’s and something like 1 for 30 with runners in scoring position. I know he is working hard with Mattingly to fix it, but at some point you got to take him out for 2-3 weeks so he can work on things without killing the team.

Also unbelievable.

Did everyone hear that loud Boom? It was the sound of the Yankee's bullpen imploding followed by a tumble down the basement steps to bottom of the AL east.

Actually, the implosion was preceded by the tumble into last place.

Confused Confused Confused
So you're saying that only San Diego sports fans are capable of rationally evaluating the chances of their team pulling things together? Hmmm, you may be right. Razz

Peter Gammons has to be beside himself with joy after Jon Lester’s no hitter. To be able to write another feel good red sox story is the ultimate for PG. I love his work, but it is so painfully obvious how much he loves the red sox that I wouldn’t consider him and independent sports writer.

With that said, it is an awesome story. Young guy comes back from cancer, throws a no-no. Good stuff.

Hey GlennK,

How do you feel about a fat, .167 hitting, $36 million outfielder with torn knee cartiledge?!?!?!?

Dick. Wink I hope he has surgery so I don’t have to watch him chase 2 strike sliders in the dirt anymore. At least this solves the “which outfielder to bench tonight” dilemma that Torre has had all year. Pierre last year, now Jones. If we finish out of first this year, old Ned will probably have to pack his bags.

Now now let's not get greedy. Just be glad the Yanks have taken the Rays place 6.5 back and still appear to be taking on water after a brilliant start by Moose tonight.

Hey, I'm OK with the Rays being down there with ya...LOL

I'm an NL guy...GO Marlins Big Grin

FYI - I grew up in the Spring Training home of the Red Sox....so I'm sorry, their fans completely annoy me. At least Bill Buckner had plenty of time to talk baseball with me during the 1987 Spring Training while eating dinner at the Country Club where I worked...LOL. No one else wanted to talk to him. Big Grin

My grandmother was born in 1920....have the Red Sox won more World Series than the Marlins since then?

Is the owner of the Red Sox a Terd? Why must I think that?

Would he have won a Title (1) one year earlier if he had stayed? Would our stadium have been built yet if he had not p**sed everyone in South Florida off?

Am I happy his hedge fund has taken a dump in recent years? You make the call!!!

Somehow...I still would pick Red Sox over Yankees anyday though!

I don't know a whole lot about Henry. I do know he pretty much stole the Sox away from McCourt in some under the table deal which I didn't like at the time.

I do however like the way this ownership group is willing to spend money to put a good team on the field (although they could have spent 20+ million on better talent than Drew and Lugo in my opinion) but at least they tried. A lot of the pro sports team owners seem to buy them just to say they own one and don't really care if they win or lose as long as they make money for them like the Buins, the once proud franchise who's owners have seemed content for the last 20 years to just sell hot dogs and jerseys and pull in 8000 fans a game or so.

I love the fact that the Yanks are relying on Rasner to spell their used up pen. 250 million doesn't buy what it used to.
