OK, you spent a lot of money in the offseason, only to find in the first couple weeks of the season that your starting pitching sucks. How do you win games?

Answer: Score 19 runs.

Go Tigers.

No thanks. Zito and Durham for an injured A-Rod is fine as Omar is coming back soon. Omar will give the young guys additional vibrance. In an interview last year, he was told "I could not believe you made that play...." and Omar's response was "I can not believe that you could not believe I made that play...." Omar is total confidence.

$126,000,000 for Zito as a relief pitcher seems a little steep to me. At least the Yankees are only paying Hughes $406K to throw up a 7+ ERA this year.

Last year we had the highest paid starting pitcher. This year we have the highest paid relief pitcher. Gooooooooo Giants. Frown

I'm hoping Zito stays away for 2-3 weeks, gets his head straight, and at least keeps the Giants in the game for 6 innings. I have recently heard that Zito takes up to one HOUR to get ready for a start which does not translate for him being a relief pitcher. Thinking that Bochy can just keep saying that there has not been a good situation to put Zito in the game while Zito tries to regroup and regain his confidence.

Tigers swept the Yankees in New York for the FIRST time since 1968!!

Go Tigers! Razz

PS- I've never heard of Daryl Rasner, either.

He pitched some for the Yankees last year. This year, in 4 starts in the minors, he's been great and hasn't given up more than one run in any of his four starts. We'll see.

Just one more sip.

I guess Rasner had a good game for you Board-O.

It figures, the Tigers would roll over the Yankees, then look totally lethargic in Minnesota. Fortunately, no-one else has decided to pull away from the pack in the AL Central yet.

Yeah, Rasner pitched very well. He was a little rocky in the first inning, but excellent after that. I'm not calling him a savior after one start.

The LA boys are back; on fire. Furcal’s bat is sizzling. Torre had been shuffling the line up just up until this winning streak started. Torre will do what he has to do to get the LA-blue boys back in contention. Look out D-backs the LA boys are on the move.

Too bad the Yankee's can't get a manager like that.

The Yankee manager, Joe Girardi, won Manager of the Year in his previous year managing.

Injuries...all things considered, Yankees will come around; to boot, they are still at 500 ball (actually 17-16 today).

I’m no Yankee defender, but in all fairness, the Dodgers did want Girardi first and went after Torre only after Girardi got the Yankee job.

Am I getting this right. All things considered Girardi is a better and more coveted manager than Torre? I have heard that his style isn't working with the vetrans but that's from TV. Personally I have seen him do some things this year that made me and most other people wonder what he was thinking (pitching to Manny with first open for one). Torre went to the post season every year with the Yanks and won 4 world series'. Girardi has one NL manager of the year and now he's the better option? If I had my choice to work with a veteran team I'd stick with Torre, but that's just my opinion.

I didn’t say that I think Girardi is better, just pointed out that he appeared to be the Dodgers first choice. That said, I think they are both solid managers with very different styles and will help their teams win. It was time to turn the page for Torre in NY IMO, to much drama.

I'm watching the Yankees get soundly beaten by the Rays tonight. Maybe I can go nick myself shaving so my enjoyment index will go up.

Hey...at least some people get pleasure from Yankee losses, but with the Marlins getting their 7 game win streak snapped in Cincy...it really is only a silver lining.

I'm just praying we can stay in the mix till the All-Star break when we might have 2 of our starters back from the DL...cause we certainly won't last the entire season outscoring our opponents.

GO GATORS!!
