How ironic that the shooter was an army psychiatrist, and that he graduated fron Va Tech, site of the another recent mass shooting.

It is a horrific tragedy to say the least. Unfortunately the POS that did this is still alive. What should be done is there should be a pay per view to watch this shooter be stoned to death or skinned alive. It might sound sadistic, but all the money from this would go to the families of the victims, tax free.

Maybe by doing this, and making an example of this guy like this, it will make anyone who has similar ideas on their mind decide not to do so.

At least the Army still has capital punishment. If ever there was one which deserved it, here he is.

I served at Fort Hood for several years, and am saddened by this horrific tragedy.

Even though Fort Hood is the largest Army base in the world, and has two heavy armored divisions, the soldiers who are stationed there are not armed (except when they are out on the training ranges), and have no way to defend themselves from a maniac like this.

My condolences go out to all of the families of the victims.

Kudos times infinity to the off-duty police woman that took him down. According to what I heard on the radio, they were running toward each other, shooting. She got him 4 times, and was hit 3 times herself, but is expected to recover.

Indeed.

From what I understand, after Columbine, the police tactics changed. Before, the police would surround the area and then wait for special units to come in. Now they are trained to immediately proceed towards the sounds of the gunshots, in order to try to prevent additional deaths. This police officer saved many additional lives by her actions.

She has become the poster-child for groups that are calling for elimination of the Army's ban against women in combat.

A friend of mine took care of the shooter. Two of the GSW were to the chest. Strange feeling when you realize you're trying to save the life of a murderer.

Rothko, I agree with your sentiment. Like you, I've met some tough-ass women in my life, who are/would be fantastic soldiers.

Wow, just wow. I hope your friend is doing okay. I'm sure a lot of people would rather see this idiot stand trial for his actions, than have killed himself like a coward.

I think many would like to see him hung from his genitals on Prime Time TV and become a human pinata for a 100 or so masochists.

The guy was a wackjob who snapped under the strains and pressures of his chosen lifestyle. The result unfortunately was the loss of 13 people and the wounding of 30 others. It was a terrible thing to happen. Please let us not ourselves lose our dignity and humanity discussing the vile ways that anyone feels he should be dealt with. Turn those feelings to the positive support of the families directly affected by this tragedy.

Maverick,

I luv ya buddy, but I can both bring positive energy to support the victims families AND support stringing this bastard up. Two separate feelings...which humans are perfectly capable of feeling.

Oh..and I'm thinking of hosting a party in December...how bout you help me cook? Florida is great this time of year!!!

The fact that he is paralyzed will be asserted as a mitigating factor in the sentencing portion of the court-martial, I'll bet.

Also, look for a civil lawsuit that he'll file against the police officer who shot him.

In a civilian court probably. I'm not so sure with the military.
