Got the mailer while out of town this week, faxed last night. Taking full allocation plus some '06 Syrah if still available.

Love these wines - I can't believe there's a better QPR out there. Thanks Paul & Stefania for your dedication.

I ordered 6 of the cab. I thought the '05 was fantastic and wish I had bought more. I am eagerly looking forward to trying the '06.

The '05 was ridiculous! Only drank 2 so far, and have been pretty good about not popping one of the last 4. It is so damn tempting! Not sure how long we'll hold onto the remaining '05's, but I could see popping one on Thanksgiving, and maybe save the last 3 and start building a vertical....who knows. Such great juice though! -mJ

DoubleD: There is a wait list for his wines, I think. I would encourage you to sign up because they are excellent values. I already split my allocation with someone else, but will keep you in mind on future releases. I have limited storage space, so I can't take everything I am allocated.

I agree with the above post. The wines are awesome, and they're even better values. Defanitally a list worth signing up for. Also Paul has some of the best customer service I've had with a winery.

Thanks Keeno! Definitely keep me in mind the next time you can't find someone to split your allocation with. And I'll throw in a Randy Moss in the trade as well. Wink Just signed up. Can't wait for the 2011 vintage.

I can't say enough great things about what Paul I doing with grapes! And he is such a damn good guy to boot. Does it get any better? Awesome wines, great customer service! Paul and Stef are the real deal, and every winemaker/vineyard manager/owner/fork lift driver should take lessons from them!

Sign up for the list already! -mJ

I wonder if I can move up their mailing list by working a week for free in their winery. I have some vacation days that I would like to use up next year.

That's pretty funny. I will certainly keep you in mind. I think that Paul has another cab release this winter or next spring. It is the Santa Cruz Mountains Cab and it sounds fantastic. The syrah should be next spring as well. If I get enough allocated to me, I will pass some on.

Paul: If you can chime in on the Santa Cruz Mountains cab, I would love to hear more about it. It seems like it is pretty structured. I am excited that it has some mint and herb flavors as mentioned in your TN. I like that stuff in cabernet.

I thought about releasing the SCM Cab with the Uvas Cab, but it had just a bit higher pH and needed more sulfur at bottling. It will take a bit longer to settle down. I'm not 100% sure yet on its release. Maybe in January, or may wait until the Spring.

We're sending out the third wave of offer letters for the Uvas on Monday.

The Santa Cruz Mountains Cab was sourced from the Harvest Moon vineyard (94%), plus a dash of Merlot from the Elandrich vineyard (6%). It's been my favorite wine so far from the start. (Stef prefers the Uvas and our Pinot Noir).

The wine is dark ruby in color with a distinct nose of mint, eucalyptus, and crushed berries. It's very plush and long on the palate with currant, berry and dark ripe fruit, fully ripe tannins and spicy notes from 50% new French oak.

It reminds me a lot of my favorite wine, Cline's Small Berry Mourvedre. It's deep, rich, full and seductive. Maybe the Uvas Creek is like a Mardi Gras parade, the SCM is like a night on Bourbon Street Smile

Bad news is there will be just 94 cases available.

That's only 22% less than the Uvas Creek: 9 bottles instead of 12 on the allocation!

So Paul... Just so people can be competitive and fool around this weekend, why don't you post forumites point levels?

Top person on the list has 3636. There are 138 people with between 100-210 points.

I actually try and manage allocations so everyone who signs up before a release gets an offer of some kind, even if it's just three bottles. So DoubleD, even if you miss on this one, you should get a SCM offer.

Got my letter yesterday and will be buying our full allocation. We've very much enjoyed every bottle we've had. I particularly like getting to know Paul and Stefania (through the blog and here) and tasting the results of their journey.

As I was reacting favorably to the letter, our 12 year daughter mocked my excitement. I responded that it's a small winery, run by interesting people producing very good wines. She asked about the wineyard dogs.

Oh, well, different priorities.

We have 9 total in 5 of the vineyards. I'll see most of them over the next few days and try and get pictures of them up.

Dogs love grapes. Grapes don't love dogs, but that doesn't stop them from eating them.
