I think I have had a few Italian and French reds that were 11.5% They taste just fine. I think the hardest part would be finding one that is ready now, locally. Maybe Vintage Wines, Bacchus, or Wine Connection would be a smart place to look. Here is a pretty good list of wine store in SD. You may also want to ask HArvest Ranch. They have sister stores in Del Mar and La Jolla that carry some high end stock.

That has to be one of the silliest things I've read here in a long time. Truly. Look to the Old World for lower alcohol content, but you'll have a hard time finding much under 12% or so. I'd wager a bottle of good wine that this individual couldn't taste the difference. PH

Buy some fre and tell them that it is 11% ABV. That must really be some nasty stuff.

Hey SPO, I can always count on you for the best answer! I checked with Bevmo (Don't laugh) as I had heard that they go through extensive training. ALSO tried the Winebank. They were both baffled, as well. Seemed like a strange restriction. I prefer not to have too high of a % myself, however; as long as it balances... I was wondering if the german reds were low in alcohol content. I should know, having been raised in a german restaurant, however; my memory does, quite often, escape me! (blame it on the 60s 60s, 70's, 80's...) Thanks for taking the time to check it out for me. I will check these others, as it may be beneficial to know-in the long run! quote: Originally posted by spo: I think I have had a few Italian and French reds that were 11.5% They taste just fine. Smpltina - sorry if you thought the "silly" comment referred to you! I was talking about the person who only drinks 11% wines. PH

PH- No, I didn't think it was for me. I'm not new enough to get splattered that bad.... ANYMORE!! Sometimes I do go a little too far in trying to find that perfect match for someone. It is exciting! I have brought things to our "Board of Experts", in these forums, that were better left unsaid! (As Alta has quoted), "I become so open minded that my brains drop out!
