I got word a few weeks ago that Kistler will be sending out their Fall mailer sometime next month(July)for delivery in November. As much as we love Kistler chard, I can't afford to buy a case for myself. That said, if anyone in the Jersey area or anywhere else who is willing to meet or come pick it up is interested, let me know as I am looking to put an order together. From what it looks like, the releases will be:

2006 Durell Vineyard Chardonnay
2006 McCrea Vineyard Chardonnay
2006 Dutton Ranch Chardonnay

No idea what release prices are going to be, but I am going to guess between $70 and $80. They can be yours at my cost.

If interested, e-mail me at markjahnke AT markjahnke DOT com . Thanks! -mJ

I'll be buying from the mailer. Kistler is on my good side as not only do I enjoy their wines (yeah they aren't cheap), they seem to be smart enough to not send their mailers out when a bunch of others do [note to other wineries there Wink ]. Don't pound me all at once. Credit card fatigue always bounces the late ones.

Haven't filled a mailer form in about 3 months so I'm ripe for the taking right now. Smile

If you get offered any pinot and don't take it all, let me know as we never get offered any! You'd think after so many offerings and purchasing we'd get offered at least a bottle! Frown

Do love their chards though, and have had some of their pinot in the past. Great juice! -mJ

I'm surprised. How long have you been on? I have been on 3 years I think and got offered pinots last year. Not the cuvees, but the others I have. I never bought more than a case of the chards either.

I love the pinots more than the chards actually, so those I take what I can get. But I won't buy more than I really want. I'll reach out to you if I am offered more than I need. I have a feeling there won;t be any this go around as I got them in the spring one.

Been on their list for the last 4 offerings and have never been offered any. Actually got on their list for the pinot, so hopefully we'll get some this go around. I sure hope so! We'll see! -mJ

Markjahnke-

That sounds odd... I'm surprised you're not getting pinot offered... I've had pinots on every offer including the first - five offers since Spring 2006. The last included the Catherine cuvee.

One time they ran out of russian river before my order went in and they offered sonoma coast as an alternative without me asking.

You sure they didn't have a sign-up where you specified chard-only or something?

Anyway, I'll let you know if I have any pinots unordered.

Hunter, I've suffered from multi-offer, too. I had to start paying attention to when they come out to save up money. August is lined up to be dangerous... I think Pride, Shafer, and Turley are all August. Beaux Freres somewhere around then, too, I think.

Strange thing about Beaux Freres - They completely blew by me last time as in blew me off. On the list for 5 years, bought a case min. everytime. Never got the mailer. My last offer were the 05's. I didn't care. Made it easier as they are a no-go for me now. Just curious with the oversight. Most of their stuff doesn't sell out anyway. You can still by all of their .750 offerings from 2006 vintage now.

We got offered pinot on our first Spring release, but by the time I sent the order in they were sold out. Haven't been offered any at all since then. Hopefully this time around! Definitely not on the chard only list, but we do try to put a case or two together, and keep a bottle or two of each for ourselves. -mJ

I have been on the list for the last 4 offerings too and I was too offered PNs on my first one, although not that many (never more than 3 bottles). I am single so I can't possibly drink Chards that fast so I have to sell 'em so I can keep drinking the PNs... Smile

Here is to great wines, expensive watches and... low APR credit cards...

Their allocations are hard to decipher!

Mine was 24, 24, 6, 6.

I received the same allocation but will be passing. I have never tried a Kistler wine. I'm sure they're great wines, but I just can't bring myself to buy when the minimum purchase is 12 bottles at over $1,000 (with tax and shipping). Wish I could order a pinot and chard to try them out.

Where you at, Vino Fan... Want to buy two off my allocation?

I opened a Kistler Sonoma Coast (not the Kistler Vineyard Sonoma Coast) tonight and it was mildly corked. My first mailing list wine that has been corked... Will be interesting to see how Kistler deals with it. Too bad about the wine... you can taste the good wine under the TCA.

Lentini, I'm in Dallas and I think I may have someone here in town that will sell me a couple. Thank you for the offer though and I'll be sure to hit you up if this other falls through. Thanks again. Cheers

Yeah, Kistler's allocation is somewhat strange. I ordered only a case last year (my first year on the list) and got a 24, 24, 8, 8 allocation. There seems to be a weird randomness to the whole process.

I plan to take 10, 10, 8 and 8.
I just wonder if my allocation will change after taking 3 cases instead of just 1.

Honestly, I don't count on it given other peoples' experiences...

PS. If there is someone in the NYC area that would be interested in buying into my allocation at cost (shipping and tax included of course), I would be willing to buy more McCrea and Dutton Chards - I would have 14 more bottles a piece). Unfortunately, you will have to PM me or post by this Monday as I want to get my order in ASAP.

My allocations have been totally random, as have my orders. This time we ended up ordering a total of 29 when all was said and done, with friends getting in, etc. Last time we had 33 bottles total I think. Maybe they have some random computer system that pulls the numbers for them based on past purchases and time on the list....LOL. I do know however that they do base it on your last few purchases and total time, but who knows for sure where they get these numbes from. -mJ

Mark,

Thanks for your thoughts... yeah, I guess I will just have to wait until the next mailing to see if there was any sort of allocation adjustment.
