Hi everyone, I'm new to the Wine Spectator and have what might seem to be an elementary question: When I search wines I've heard about using the spectator's database, it shows the vintages, the ratings and the price. Does the price represent the current market price for the wine, or the price at the time the review was done?
If it's the latter, it's not much value unless it's a current review, wouldn't you agree? |

John,
Welcome to the Wine Spectator Forums. The price you see when searching our database of Tasting Notes is the price of the wine when it was released. You can use our Wine Spectator Auction Index Search to view the most recent prices that a given wine has sold for at auction. Cheers, Robert Taylor Associate Editor Wine Spectator Online |

However, I have seen current prices posted when one of the tasters is doing a retrospect tasting or similar. |

John, welcome to the boards!
Another resource that is invaluable in finding current prices on wine is wine-searcher. The basic free version is great, but the pro version will recover you the $20 cost in your first couple purchases. |
