Not directly on point, but at least it's the right state. Houston Wine Merchant carries a lot of the German Rieslings imported by Therry Theise.

Escape, what are you looking for? I know a shop in Austin that has tons of Prum and Donnhoff -- 01's and 02's.

Hi Escape. There's a shop in Westlake Hills called Hill Country Wine, which is part of the Twin chain, but Peter, the store manager, buys a lot of Rieslings. It's in an Albertson's mall at the intersection of 360 (Capital of Texas Hwy) and Bee Cave Rd (RM2244). Their phone # is 512-347-1299.

While you're in Westlake, continue east on Bee Caves (towards town) to the intersection of Walsh Tarlton. You will be surrounded by strip malls. Turn right on WT, then left into the stip mall with the Steinmart. There's an Eckerd's in there that has an amazing wine selection. They don't have much (or any) Reisling, but they discount some wine 50% and you just never know what you will find. If Chris isn't there, ask for his card -- he orders cases for 12% over cost.

For Riesling, there's also Austin Wine Merchant on 6th St. downtown, just past the post office (512-499-0512). I haven't been in there recently, but they usually carry a good selection of Rieslings and one of Austin's best selections of French wine.

If you want more info, or can't believe that an Eckerds carries fine wine, email me at texaswinethief@hotmail.com. Happy hunting!
