Not at all! I didn't even know your name was Steve.

By the way, I don't see anything wrong with selling a little wine here, but that's a far cry from running a business here.

Thanks for confirming that, Board-O... I hate assuming anything (or maybe I was being a bit paranoid? Eek ), so I appreciate the clarification. Also, now that you know my first name, you won't have to call me "duckfan" when you come out to visit Glacier! Big Grin

You are good, upstanding individual and my correspondence with you was nothing less than a pleasure. I consider you a friend and I was glad to be able to help out.

You package your wines well, you respond to all queries, and are more than accommodating. If anything, we need more people like you here.

Nothing better than exchanging wines with another enthusiast and knowing they are going to someone who appreciates them.

I don't think anyone here would question your motives, I certainly would not stand for it.

I consider you a friend as well, Sticky2 (as well as AZCat, KSC02, dannyk, and many others on this forum), and I appreciate your kind words more than I am able to express... thanks for that.

It's become very apparent to me that an offline needs to happen in the future, preferably in the not-so-distant future, with you and other wine enthusiasts on this forum. I've only been to one offline to date (sad, but true), but had such a great time that I can only imagine how awesome it would be to get together with a larger group of other lovers-of-wine.

At an offline there is no doubt that I would benefit greatly from the knowledge of others (as I consider myself very much a novice), but the thing I would cherish the most is to just hang out with some good people, enjoy some good food & conversation, and drink some f'ing great wines... what could be better than that? At any rate, I remain hopeful that this happens sooner than later.

Right now I'm currently in Portland, Oregon, hanging with my brother, and it couldn't have happened at a better time. The workload was just about killing me and things on the home front were far from "a serene sanctuary"... I needed to get away from "the firing squad" for a short spell.

To balance things out, so to speak, tonight we managed to knock down (stylishly, but knocked down nonetheless), a bottle of the 2006 Hall "Kathryn Hall" Cabernet Sauvignon, a bottle of the 2006 Mollydooker Enchanted Path, and a bottle of the recently-purchased 2006 Efeste Syrah Ceidleigh.

The Hall Cab was brilliant, though I have no doubt it needs more bottle time (or several hours in the decanter) to allow it to be enjoyed at its best. The Mollydooker was fine, but it was just too over-the-top tonight... I get the feeling I'm veering away from these mega-fruit-bomb type of wines. The Efeste was superb, an almost perfect balance of fruit and mineral, and I fully intend on purchasing whatever remaining bottles are left at Liner Elsen.

Tomorrow we have a full day of wine tasting, a sure-to-be-killer dinner at Tina's that night, a Ducks football game the next day, plus a sh*tload of good food and wine afterwards. I can't wait!

OK, I'm babbling, aided by the enjoyment of some nice wines tonight, so I'll shut up now. Smile.

Nice posting, duckfan. It's heart-warming to see you're enjoying some quality down-time.

I sure have broken laws. I don't pretend I haven't. I don't lie about it.

Vino-Ripper -

I think that last reply may hold the key to this farce-of-a-thread - break laws, don't break laws, do as you please, etc... but you should be comfortable enough with your actions not to have to resort to lies or non-truths. And, indeed, evading taxes within a legal framework is actually like a fine art, but this whole charade is lacking in effort, and that's perhaps the most insulting thing of all. While I empathize with your evident frustration, I don't necessarily agree; nothing a nice glass can't solve, I bet...

What EVIDENCE does anyone have that Matt is evading taxes? Without EVIDENCE, statements suggesting that he is evading taxes are baseless, snarky, moronic, rude, and insulting to this community as a whole. There are folks out there who have very large (and expensive) personal wine collections. Methinks some people here may be a bit jealous.

As far as I can see, the only WS policies that even remotely touch this area are the following:

From the Terms of Service (see the link at the bottom of the page):

"Promotion of commercial outside interests in the form of spam is forbidden, i.e. spam posts that promote specific wineries, retailers or private-interest groups."

From the header at the top of the Buying and Selling Forum:

"Whether you've cornered the market on Domaine de la Romanée-Conti or are laying down your first case, you'll benefit from talking with your fellow collectors about strategies and big scores."

So, does Matt H's post promote an outside commercial interest? Is he a "private-interest group"? Is his post "Spam" or not?

If the purpose of the Buying and Selling forum is to talking with fellow collectors about strategies and big scores, is this thread consistent with that purpose?

It seems that no one has a problem with a collector who needs to sell a bottle or two (or 10), but it seems that most people would have a problem if a large retailer, like Total Wine, starting posting on the forum about their sales (and this activity would seem to violate the Terms of Service).

I'll leave it to WS to decide whether this thread falls outside the scope of the Terms of Service or not.

I could not agree with you more, an offline needs to happen at some point. I just don't know how we get people from all over the country together at the same time.

Glad to see you drinking some good wines, I love the Enchanted Path. I used it in a blind tasting and it blew everything else away. As a matter of fact, I have that wine thanks to you Wink

I believe I owe you a bottle as well, I'll be sure to send you something as soon as it is possible. My cellar is in Anaheim Hills and I'm in Malibu now as you know.

Oh, you are invited, naturally. You still have me cracking up over that terabit comment Wink Board-O can't come though, since he shunned me for dinner over the holidays. Guy has no heart...

Sticky, what are you talking about? What holidays? If you were in the NYC area over the last few holidays, we weren't.

You post so much I should have figured you would not be able to keep track of everything.

Just a joke, in the Pinot thread I made I thought you were referring to me with a post about dinner over the holidays, thinking you were joking. You were actually addressing wiml.

Heh, all just a big misunderstanding, I think I need a glass of wine.

No need to close this. It's kind of cute the way you pretend you're not running a profit making business on this site. We should keep this here for the laughs.
