I am not able to purchase my full allocation of 2000 Abreu cabernets this go round. Two bottlings offered this year. Madrona Ranch cabernet-up to 6 available at $248.50 per (which is my cost- $225 + $18 tax plus $5.50 shipping) and Thorevilos cabernet- up to three available at $207 per ($185 + $15 tax + $7 shipping) Madrona Ranch ships in October and Thorevilos in the Spring, 05. Prefer Bay Area transaction, otherwise reciprocal states, with shipping from here to there added to the costs above.
Let me know and cheers, marxloting@aol.com |

Wow! And I thought I was paying too much for Harlan. If these prices keep up, I might be giving up this hobby.

Seeing these prices sure makes me feel good about all the 2000 Bordeaux for which I "overpaid".

...and to think less than a month ago everyone was complaining about spending $120+ for the 2003 Montrose at 96-100 points vs. $200+ these 92 point wines.

Nevertheless, lovely wine year in and year out from David Abreu. (Madrona Ranch wine of the 2000 vintage according to Mr. Parker) And with such low production levels (Thorevilos only 200 cases) quite scarce as well compared to the thousands of cases of Bordeaux first growths. FWIW, these wines have now been spoken for- many thanks for all expressing interest.
Cheers, Mark |

Your offer to purchase the Abreu at your cost was very considerate. Many people would like the opportunity to try an Abreu wine and your post is an example of the things that make these forums such a great resource. Sure, we could take a shot at landing one of the elite cult wines at an auction but who knows how that would turn out.
People may have comments about the "value" of a 2000 California Cab at $200 but I hope you didn't take it personally at all. I'm a little shocked at the tone of the replies. I appreciate the courtesy you provided to the forumites and I'm glad you found some takers. --------------------------- We ate the food and drank the wine Everybody having a good time except you... you were talking about the end of the world [This message was edited by thewinoandIknow on Jul 09, 2004 at 09:27 PM.] |

Mark,
No disrespect to you intended; I was shocked that Abreu wines were that much. But as said before, if the wine market continues in this direction I'll be turning my interests elsewhere. |

myomaya,
quote: Actually, the exact quote from RPs review is quote: And if you read WA carefully, there are several wines that RP says are candidates of wine of the vintage for 2000. FYI |
