See thread below started by Krunch. What terrible timing! Should be interesting though. Popcorn

Hi Chris,

Good luck - some of these guys are pretty hard on newbies trying to sell, which sucks big time.

Look at it this way. We have no idea who you are besides a screename. Unless another board member backs you up, your reputation is based on fluff as far as I am concerned. I never buy wine from this site. Just an FYI

That's because several people have been ripped off by people who came here for the express purpose of taking their money. Like mareff, I'd never buy anything from anyone here unless they were a long-time regular and posted fair prices. You are not and did not. Anyone who buys from you is rolling the dice.

Just one more sip.

The folks who rolled the dice with me were more than satisfied. As we discussed in beating the dead horse, I thought the prices were fair and reasonable, some didn't and didn't purchase, some did and purchased. Your loss, others' gains.

If you are suggesting or implying that I was trying to rip some one off, take a well deserved hike.

IF it's true, they were lucky. I certainly wouldn't buy anything from you.

I thought the prices were fair and reasonable

The prices were ridiculously high. I don't believe anybody was crazy enough to pay anything close to that.

Your loss My loss? Big Grin

others' gains.

I don't believe that.

If you are suggesting or implying that I was trying to rip some one off

With those ridiculously high prices, you most definitely were trying to rip someone off.

take a well deserved hike.

Do I have to?

Just one more sip.

Well most of these wines are now spoken for. Im not sure what this thread jack is all about. All I was trying to do is sell a few bottles. I think the prices were pretty fair.

Chris, look, you are probably a nice guy/gal. Like mareff and Board-O indicate, people who sell here do best when they are regulars, have met others at offlines and the like. I've bought a couple of times from people here, and both transactions were flawless, but only from regulars I've either met, or from someone who trusted forumites vouched for.

Don't get your feelings hurt, it's just business.

Hi all: I was thinking of selling off some more of my collection so thought I'd come over and check out WS to see what's new. I thought Board-O was banned? Or is it that my ignore feature went away with the change over to the new system?

Anyhow, for the newbies who want to use this part of the forum for what it is intended... buying and selling wine, just ignore the rant of the "not in my backyard" folks. It's actually a pretty decent place to sell or buy (at the right price) and almost everyone who I have bought/sold from here is a lurker or infrequent poster, not a flamer / instigator.

So, don't let the odd apples make you nervous about posting. I'm glad places like this are around so we can buy/sell/trade.

It's not intended for people running a wine business and evading taxes (ie you).

Just one more sip.

And it's not intended for
- people who are new
- people who haven't posted an appropriate but unspecified number of comments in the forum
- people who don't aren't in the "in" crowd
- people who don't post at the correct price points
- people who .... the rest will be revealed by the wiser and older members of the forum in due time
