If you find some, I'll split it with you. This is/was? one of my absolute favorite bottles. I have 2 96 and 2 97 left.

dbw;
Have you tasted the '97 yet? A local shop has a couple of mags for $105/ea. and I'm thinking about pulling the trigger. The '95 and '96 Reserve Merlot were outstanding; I believe it was just after the '97 vintage that St. Francis when on a big downhill slide, IMHO.

Almost all of SF's '97s were great. It was after this year that things went downhill. By the way, I was just at a wine dinner at SF last month and tasted some of the 2001s. I'm hoping this will be a return to glory. It seems that the assistant winemaker is having a good influence on the direction of the wines. The 2001s had good fruit concentration, but were made in a more elegant, feminine style without the overbearing oak of the past few years. They were very nice, although they haven't released the biggies yet, e.g. Nunns Canyon Cab/Merlot, Kings Ridge, etc.

Kybo,

The 97 was smooth, rich and very nice. I would buy more.

I think the ranking would be:
1994 - 94-96pts
1996 - 92-93pts
1997 - same

... 1996 was more powerful, but otherwise 97 and 96 were very good. This is from memory - but I myself went back and got more!
