I ordered a six pack from their in-stock inventory previously. No issues, all good.
But I also ordered four different bottles pre-arrival, two on 3/10/05, and two on 3/30/05. It hasn't been terribly long or anything, but I noticed various aspects of their website have been down - access to their newsletters... no new newsletters since March... no emails since March... So I sent an inquiry to sales@premiercru.net/com whatever it is, and I haven't gotten a response in over a week. Should I be worried? Anyone want to soothe my mind by telling me how great they are, that I should just be patient? Anyone know if they're having trouble? Thanks! |

Call and get to the bottom quickly. If you are concerned, get a refund. Hurry though, no need to wait for them.

I receive email about every other day from them. Perhaps you have a spam filter or you are using a ISP that see's their email as spam?
FYI, I have several pending orders with them. I'm not worried. Here is their phone number: 510) 655-6691 I also found this alt address on the website: sales@PremierCru.net "When I drink, I think; and when I think, I drink." Francois Rabelais www.tanglenet.com TN posted on Cellartracker |

I've purchased many items from Premier Cru over the years. I've never had a problem receiving anything from them; from items in stock to futures. I will say that I noticed you just purchased these futures about 6 weeks ago. I've had future orders from Premier Cru take up to 6-7 months to arrive, so be patient.

I received some 'pre-arrivals' from them around two weeks ago (4-2002jadot gervey clos st. jacques, and 2-59 ferrari jonica solaria).BUT, ordered them in Sept. and Nov. 2004. They do take their time with futures, but have never had a problem. Every couple of months I send them a email asking them when they will receive my futures, and they always reply in a couple of days with the answer.
I have ordered many bottles (20-30) on 'pre-arrivals during the last two years, no problems- just cannot be in a hurry. |

Pre arrivals from Premier Cru may take ove a year. They will eventually deliver, but will take time. Always check with them about every 3-4 months by phone because it may have arrived.
Which are the 2 wines? |

Keep calling them about pre-orders. They won't call you. I usually call them after I see bottles I've pre-ordered among their "in-stock" inventories. I've also had "more difficult than you'd expect" discussions with them about pre-sale prices being greater than off-the-shelf prices. They have great selections at good-to-great prices, but I've stopped buying there anyway.
I noticed that they had bad service the very first time I walked in their store in the late 90s. They had five or six people behind the counter at computer terminals and one person waiting on customers. That one service person spent nearly half an hour with one customer buying a couple of cases of pricey French Burgundy and would not even make eye contact with me over a single bottle of Cali cab. I'll miss some gems, but that's OK... --------------------------------------------------------- Billy-Ray Valentine... Capricorn. |

Premier Cru always seem to fill their orders. They also always seem to take forever to do it.

Of course, you were all correct. I gave them a call...
1) One order was in, but they hadn't let me know. 2) They were super friendly on the phone. 3) The other order is expected maybe end of summer - long time away! I don't mind the waiting. It would be nice if they were more proactive notifying customers of orders arriving. And super friendly and helpful is always a bonus. |

You need to keep calling and checking on pre-orders. Darcy is pretty nice to deal with but the owner is a pr... He stiffed me a on $45 corked btl of Giradrin Puligny Montrachet Les Pucelles because I had bought it six months previously??? I don't buy from them anymore but if you must, speak with Darcy she tries hard in spite of poor ownership. I've noticed a trend to towards higher pricing at PC in the last 6 months too. Not that many bargins anymore.

Nothing but good report from me. I have bought quite a bit from them. The pre arrivals are exactly that, pre arrivals and dependant on when they get them, I get them. In stock orders have always been shipped the next day. I find them friendly and open in their communications and accurate in their descriptions of the wine and bottles.
Sooner or later it all gets drunk. The only questions are, "By whom?" and, "When?" |

I have noticed a trend from Premier Cru to fufill orders months after the fact. I now have three outstanding orders dating from 8/2004 with no arrival date in sight. If I didn't really want these wines I would have cancelled my orders long ago.
Beware the "pre-arrival" wines. You will eventually receive them but it may take a looooonnnng time. |

I know this thread is very old but my experience is directly applicable. I pre-ordered a 2003 Bordeaux from Premier Cru in March of 2006 and I still haven't received it 21 months later. This wine has been on the market in the US for 18 months and Premier Cru has not been able to fill my pre-order. I have sent numerous email inquiries about my order and have never received a SINGLE response. When I call, they are very courteous and apologetic but never give me a definitive answer as to when my order will be filled. I have done business with numerous other online wine merchants (KL Wines, JJBuckley, HDH, TCWC, Winebid, Brentwood, etc...) and never experienced anything like this.
The unfortunate thing is that I pre-ordered 2005 Bordeaux from Premier Cru in June of 2006. Most of which I can no longer find at those pre-order prices, such as the Leoville Barton which I pre-ordered at $99 a bottle. Based upon everyhing I've been able to dig up on Premier Cru on on-line message boards I am reasonably sure I will eventually receive my wine. But I will never do business with them again and do not recommend them to others. Paul |

All of my experiences with Premier Cru have been positive - ridiculous deals, they have always come through - I am not planning on drinking any of the wines I buy from them any time soon anyway (with the exception of some of the cheaper rieslings) - No Complaints here.

Do you actually plan on drinking them now anyway? |

It is well known that PC tends to take the longest to fill the orders but they also offer the best prices. If speed of delivery is your priroity, PC is not for you.

I'm not planning on drinking the wines on order any time soon either. However, when I placed the order in March of 2006 the stated ship date was late Spring or Fall of 2006. Not only did I not receive it in the Spring or Fall of 2006 the Spring and Fall of 2007 passed and it's nearing 2008 and I still haven't received it! Combined with the fact they have not responded to email inquires and have not provided adequate phone customer service information and you've got the recipe for a business I do not recommend and will no longer deal with.

Premier Cru is not very responsive to e-mails, in my experience. I've given up e-mailing them and and just call when I need something.
They are also not very good at contacting you when your wine arrives, again in my experience. On at least three occasions I've called to check on a way overdue shipment, only to be told, "Your wine just arrived!!" Yeah, right!! Continue to be a politely squeaky wheel by phone, and you'll get your wine eventually. Even with the occasional hiccup, their pricing and usually good service is well worth contining the relationship for me. For a company that does as much e-commerce as Premier Cru, they really do need to get their arms around the e-mail responsiveness problem. It's a very easy fix. PH |
