I was thinking of getting some of the '07 Cab. What about you? I was offered 750, 1.5L 3L, 5L & 9L.

Have you seen any professional reviews yet? I haven't.

I picked up some '07 Syrah and I am thinking of pulling the trigger on the Cab Franc.

at close to 80$ a bottle including tax and shipping...

It's much much cheaper for me to pick it up when it hits retail at ~55$ here in NY.

unless you're looking for those 3L+ bottles.

I'm also thinking of getting a couple bottles. But, similar to g-man, I am thinking of waiting until it hits retail (in Chicago). Right now Binny's has the '06 for $75 (must be nice to get it for $55 in NY) - trying to balance the likelihood of being able to pick up the '07 at retail vs. the 'sure thing' of ordering through Pride.

No plans on getting the Chardonnay.

Too easy to find at retail. That being said, I still don't think I will buy.

you kind of have to have patience.

my local wine store slapped on a 20% discount because they couldn't move the 04, 05, 06s bringing it down to 55$ and seeing those bottles still sitting there, I'd doubt the 07s would move any different.

The '07 Cab is fantastic. We were at Pride back in July and they were just getting ready to bottle the Cab. We were able to try it from the holding tank and both my wife and I thought it was the best of the Prides that we tried that day.

Sorry to say I don't have any tasting notes on it. I do recall that it had a firm backbone to go with the fruit as I mentioned to Romel (asst. winemaker) that the wine should have a long life ahead of it and he concurred.

If the wine was in the bottle while we were there, I would've brought a couple home with me.

Hmmm...I'll try that patience thing and see how it works out. Even if they don't put that specific wine on sale, they usually have 15-20% coupons here at Binny's about once a month or two, so I should be able to get it discounted one way or another.

Holding off will allow me to have one less credit card charge to explain to my wife at this point, too.

I'll pass on the Pride Chardonnay and Cab, and wait for the 2007 Pride Reserve.

I'm going in but very low quantities. Haven't decided if I will do reserves this time. I need to go try some from last time to see if I think they're worth that big bump up in price.

I'm assuming & hoping the 2007 Pride Reserve will be excellent, but if the price is too high, I'll pass. I believe you can find the Caymus SS for $99/$105 per bottle.

I think I'll a mag plus 3-4 750s of the cab. I'll probably pass on the chardonay. I'm more of a sauvignon blanc kinda guy.

This will be my 7th year of buying the cab and I don't plan to stop in the latest vintage of the century.

These '07 cabs seem to picking up steam and getting everybody talking. Parker rated the vintage higher than any in his vintage rating history.

That said, I would rather buy the '07 Caymus for less than the Pride, which is exactly what I did.

I tried the 07 Cab in August while at the winery. It's going to be a very nice, young drinker IMO. I picked up 3 but am anxious to grab the reserves!

I did the same as you, besides I really prefer the Caymus over the Pride. I paid $59.95 per bottle.

I just meant the extra $20 that a vintner select costs over the normal bottling. And I haven't gotten the actual reserve offering... don't know how much that is. When I said reserves, I was referring to vintner select.

Recently, the Reserve has gone for $125. With the creation of the vintner select cabernet sauvignon, I have chosen to buy fewer of the regular bottling as I see they have lowered the quality as the better barrels go into the vintner select and reserve. Although they have maintained pricing, my perception is lower quality. There may never be another Pride regular cab that reaches the heights of the 2001 Pride Cab.

I hope I am wrong and the 2007 Pride Cab reaches those lofty heights. I do buy most of what Pride offers and appreciate their great customer service and their staff. Great people to do business with.

I tasted this a month ago from the barrel. This is the best cab Pride has made since their 2002, and for the release price a good value. So I am in and already purchased my allocation.

This thread is exactly why I frequent these forums. I purchased four syrah and two cab francs earlier this year. I will get three bottles of the cab.

Here in SC, I have never seen Pride in a retail outlet.
