I was given a bottle of 1970 pomerol , chateau la pointe. My boss gave it to me as a christmas gift. he gave few other bottles out as gifts to my co-workers...from what i know he bought a wine cellar at an auction and this was included.
I think that this wine would be wasted a bit on me so I'm trying to get a feel for what it would be worth and if there are any offers

Give the wine a shot. It doesn't have much value here. La Pointe is not a great estate even in in great years (FWIW, in my opinion 1970 was an excellent year for Pomerol). Moreover, why some Pomerols are built for aging, I have not found La Pointe to be one of them.

Now forget what I said about the wine and try it for yourself. It would be wasted on us. It might not be wasted on you should it spawn an appreciation for wine.
