I'm sorry I can't post a link because WSJ is by subscription, but it was a pretty interesting little article. A common practice, which I dare say many of you know about, is for a club to offer a private label bottling by a large winery and try to pass it off as a boutique wine. (in the article the wine in question was by Sebastiani). My Turning Leaf "Stefanie N Vineyard" will be ready as soon as I pick up my label maker at Staples.

While I'm sure there are myriad exceptions, that is a reason I am in no wine clubs, and would approach them with skepticism.

"Wonderful bouquet and smooth body that packs sweet, plump flavor on a wiry frame. Lively, tangy and distinctive. A classic that should age well." MA rating: 98

This article is also available thru today's daily wine news at www.winebusiness.com. The link there will take you to mlive.com which asks for zip code, age, and gender for access.

Stefanie, I've often wondered whether WS was describing wine or women.
