I like both of these, but have had a couple of slightly to very corked versions of this Shingleback. How was it/they?

Tonight the 04 Bond Matriarch seems appropriate. Took it out of the cellar and will pop it and start decanting in two hours for dinner.

ib-

The St. Supery was fully integrated; nice fruit, soft tannins, decent acidity, and a surprisingly long finish. (89-90 Points)

The Shingleback is just entering its drinking window; delicious nose of blackberry jam and mocha with some oaky characteristics (cedar and toast); a bit stronger on the palate but still pleasant; the finish is initially a bit harsh but smooths out quickly. This should peak in a year and last 1-2 years beyond that. (88 Points)

Thanks for the notes Giga. I'd always loved St. Supery for their Sauv. Blanc, and have found this 2002 Cab to be a nicely made wine that seems to fly under the radar.

I just couldn't quite feel the Shingleback in the end. I decided I liked a few others better in this pricepoint, but will have to wait a bit to crack my last bottle as you suggest.

Rough day. You really need to to work on what you're drinking, SG. Wink

From what I was going to expect, I agree. Here's to hoping that the next couple are better!
