The 2002 vintage had a distinctive flavour of white pepper that I found interesting in a chardonnay. Haven't seen it in later vintages (too bad).

1989 Pichon Lalande - my first experience with a well-aged top Bordeaux, and while I've had more complex wines, I've never had a wine that melted in my mouth quite like this. Amazing stuff, and I'm really glad I still have one more bottle to try.

1996 Jaboulet Le Pied de la Cote - gobs of black pepper
1997 Fattoria Della Vitae Brunello di Montalcino - chocolate and tar, very nice
1999 Stonestreet Legacy - drank surprisingly well
1999 Fisher Coach Insignia
2005 Mollydooker Enchanted Path - Blecchh
1994 Louis Guntrum Trockenbeerenauslese - incredible acidity, excellent dessert wine

1999 Cepparello - a bit of VA, which I've never minded, young, full, balanced, de-lish.

1997 Costanti Brunello - a great brunello, still youthful after 3hrs slow ox'd and a half hr decant. Soft tannins, great nose (prefered it to the Cep).

Infanticide? Yes. Incredibly delicious (especially with 2+ hours decanting)? Yes.

Thanks, good to know. I've found some of these too...

I'm glad I pulled the trigger on one of these early and gave it a long time in the decanter prior to drinking... it was really a great drop. That said, I'm definitely planning on not opening my remaining bottle (as well as any additional ones purchased) for 1-2 years, perhaps longer.

So if you have a couple on hand, by all means enjoy one now, make sure you decant for at least a couple hours, and hold on the rest.

Would be interested in your impressions on this Shiraz if/when you try it.
