g-man, I thought it was drinking fine. It would benefit from decanting, but I just popped and poured. There is no hurry on this as it seems like it is just entering it's drinking window.

A 1999 Robert Weil Riesling Spatlese. Don't remember the Vineyard but the wine was delicious. (Sweeter than I expected though.)

As a benchmark, tried a 2005 Joseph Drouhin Chorey-les-Beaunes last night. Great little QPR wine. Wonderful Burgundian funk on the nose. Nice strong black fruits with that certain something on the palate, with a decently long finish. Obviously needs time, but would/will drink another in a year or so.

2003 Chateau Perron -

2005 Condado de Haza
2005 Coudoulet de Beaucastel

Both nice but the Beaucastel was nicer.

W+A, have you had the 2004 Barranc Dels Closos? It's on our shelves for $22. The FA 112 was released on Thursday, but is all gone now. He who hesitates is lost. Frown

Last night we had

1999 Marchesi di Barolo, Barolo, Cannubi (excellent)
2005 Chappellet, Cab (disappointing)

Steve, the Barranc is not for everyone in my opinion, but you should try. I enjoyed the '04, but less than $15 in our market.

You might chase down the FA 112, an excellent wine Steve.

I consider Mas Igneus one of my favorite Priorat winery visits. We tasted three wines with winemaker Fran Vernet.

Just one more sip.

Good info Board-O, thanks.

KSC02 and I were talking yesterday about where to visit in Spain next year together.

Now on our list. Cool

Go to Priorat. If you do, let me know. I have a lot of information on contacts at wineries, restaurants, and a nice small hotel.

Will it be in summer? It's possible we'll be back in Europe again next summer. We'll be in Barcelona and Malaga this summer also. I'm hoping to have dinner with 2 Priorat winery owners in July.

Just one more sip.

Also, as a pre-birthday for my wife:

2005 Newton Chardonnay
1983 Pichon Lalande
1988 Mouton Rothschild
1989 Chateau Palmer

The wines were all spectacular (all mid to high 90's), but my wife remains a 100 and getting even better with age.
