Very little really.

But, I had 2 wines of note:

1985 La Croix de Gay, Pomerol
2002 Marquis de Riscal, Rioja Reserva

Both beautiful in their own blessed ways.

Back home and just opened the 2005 Rafael Palacios Valdeorras Val do Bibei.

You drank 5 bottles of ME Sav Blanc! Or was this what you bought?

Tanglenet,

We were having a family/friends gathering, and the Sav. Blanc was the reception wine making the rounds.

Last night:

2005 Chateau Pipeau. Decanted for two hrs. Very good but way to early to drink (as I expected). I think it needs at least 5-7 years.

Moselelle, you are indeed a man of great taste. Smile

It was as special as the other bottles I have enjoyed, and agree with you. It is one of the finest wines in the world in fine years.

I bought the 2000 and 2003 also. Did you pick any of these up?

No, still waiting for the win in the Lottery. Such thing like Laville remains an exception in my wine experience, it's not the kind of wine i pick up every year. Fieuzal is more up to my wallet.

Oh, I agree on the current pricing. The 2005 is insane and I passed. Much like my beloved Salon Champagne, it is just going too high for me.

I have had several Smith Haut Lafitte White recently that were lovely.

A 375ml of 2003 Rieussec for dessert last night. Very young and closed but will be amazing in 7-10 years IMO. I have lots of this wine and figured I would sacrifice on in the name of science. I wish I didn't. Razz

Tang, it is so non Sauvignon Blanc like to me. I'm guessing it is due to the Musque clone.

Escape and I always seek this wine out!

Agree on SHL, allthough i generally prefer Graves with a higher proportion of Semillon, i cannot resist the charm of SHL. A wine you could buy blind year after year.

We visited their new winery in Sebastopol a couple of weeks ago. They had just bottled the 07. It's still primary but very good. We picked up a couple, but I'm thinking of buying more now that it's getting warmer.

Thanks for the heads-up on the '07.

I tried to buy a case today off their web, but a message said to call winery. Confused
