my point exactly, for he who is a bit too uptight for his own good.

Since I first tuned onto this thread just now, I had a hard time figuring out what the squabble was between T-Bird and SpaceWrangler since all the posts are now edited. Sort of like coming into a movie theatre and having to ask "what did I miss". Having now figured it out, I will say that T-Bird, the product you mention is essentially working in a similar fashion to the glass cork. I did not realize that my description would be equally apropos for the glass cork as well as T-Bird's product.

Whitehall lane did let me play with their glass cork product and a bottle of wine. T-Bird; Did your store let you play with their product for it's intended purpose? Eek

"T": I thought your analogy was funny, and not entirely unreasonable in a Cheech and Chong kind of way.

I just popped a bottle of '05 Northwest Totem Cellars syrah (pretty good stuff, btw) last week that had one of these Vino-Seal glass corks. First time I've run across one, and I think this is a pretty cool gadget. I've since used it to reseal other bottles to go into the fridge, and it's much easier than trying to jam the old corks back in.
As stated earlier, I'm not sure about the aging potential, but for early drinkers this has got corks beat cold.
I just poured down the sink a corked viognier yesterday Mad, that I wish had had one of these.

One of my favorite daily drinkers for things like spicy Thai food or for sitting by the pool is Schloss Vollrads Riesling Trocken. Had glass corks for some time now.

Beginning with the 2005 vintage Weinbach started using these glass closures (not really accurate to call them "glass corks") - at least on some of their releases. Very interesting, and rather elegant closure imo.
