'92 Gundlach-Bundschu Merlot (Rhinefarm Est, Sonoma Vly))

'00 Kenwood Merlot (Massara; Sonoma Vly)

The GB drank "older," as to be expected, and I preferred the complexity of this wine to the Kenwood. The problem with the KW, I believe, was being from the 2000 vintage--not the best.

Very nice. Showed very nicely. I wanted to try one of several I picked up at the Depot a couple of weeks back. Thanks for your rec. Glad I picked these up.

Certainly not too early to open. However, I also enjoy my Riesling younger rather than older.

A trifecta of Spanish QPR's with warm pitas, homemade tabouli, hummus, falafel, grilled vegetables, & lamb chops:

2006 Tres Picos
2007 Atteca
and some left over 2004 Los Rochas VV

All paired well, but the day old '04 Las Rochas was the best match of the bunch. Although I am still fond of Spanish reds- especially the QPR's- my palate grows restless. I believe I am ready to move on to other delights.

Oh yeah, I recommended that wine to you months ago, but you didn't buy any. Impulse mentions it and you run off to Depot and buy a case. Wink

Tonight we had

2005 Tardieu-Laurent, Bandol
2006 Niepoort, Vertente
